September 6, 201312 yr I am yet to do my first full length long haul in the 777. This is scheduled on Sunday for me from EGBB-OMDB using EK40 call sign. I have however been tweaking and training on it since it was released and I can say it is a very good piece of software. I have finally managed to get my FPS to not drop below 30fps in 99% of situations, just the mouse fps issue, which a lot of people have. So in a nutshell, even though I haven’t tested it on a long haul as yet, I would say this aircraft blows any other aircraft for FSX totally out of the water in realism terms, Well done yet again PMDG! Regards Adam
September 6, 201312 yr I think PMDG has released another work of art - and I'm dazzled by the beauty and the detail. Their new operations center tool is magical - a very SMART bit of kit that will update your PMDG products as improvements and fixes are released, and the livery manager is vastly simpler and intuitive. It's early days, but it's a wonderful new toy in the hangar, and for 89.95, you'll feel like you got your money's worth. Yes, I've noticed some texture loading issues, and I was surprised that PMDG recommended such high slider settings for the high-end PCs. I personally think some of those are perhaps too optimistic, and you'll need to play with your sliders for the textures and all to get your frames and overall performance where you want it. I have a 4.73 i7 2600k and GTX690 card (1/2 of which I use only for anti aliasing), and there ARE sudden delays while the textures load - which was not the case with my NGX rendering settings, which were LOWER. That means that I need to tweak the settings down a tad - so my overall performance is smooth, I'm sure I can find the happy spot. R. September 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member 24 hours on and memory usage (VAS) is stuck at 2.6 Gb. Perf is great (40+ FPS). I left it in orbit overnight (FL400, 2000 kts) and it's still running. Best regards, Robin.
September 6, 201312 yr I love it.. I will be using the PMDG 777 for a long, long time.. Its the one plane that I always wanted PMDG to make for FS.. I flew from Miami to LAX last night and the arrival into LAX was awesome.. I went LAND 3 just to test it out and she was smooth as silk.. I have a great system but not near as good as some of you and the 777 runs smooth.. Im getting 40-60 FPS in the air and 20-30 on the ground.. I have a Alienware Aurora that is now 4 years old.. Windows 7 (64) i7 @ 2.60 with 4 cores.. 6 GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 5700 video card.. I love the flying part of FSX and do not use any scenery add ons.. I keep it pretty simple.. I use Ultimate Traffic at 20%.. I use Active Sky.. Eric Lilly
September 6, 201312 yr Very good release, price is high but worth it considering the level of detail. I would have liked to see the LRF equipped with an ADF, at least as an option, but not a big deal at all. I also hope the PMDG team can either develop an inhouse version of autosave or find a way for 777 to play nicer with FSUIPC's autosave. Considering the long haul nature of 777 flying, having the insurance of autosave is very nice. September 6, 201312 yr I was one of the first to get it (pressing F5 on their Facebook page does have some benefits  ) and must say that I'm impressed with the textures and the overall feel PMDG has managed to impart on the add-on. From the VC to how it handles, it looks and "feels" like a big plane so kudos to PMDG for that. I was also impressed with the sound set as I spent about 45 minutes pushing buttons and turning switches on or off just to see how far PMDG went. Good stuff. Now I'm probably going to get trolled for this but after getting over the initial "WOW, its a gorgeous plane" feeling, to me it feels like a really big, powerful, -NGX. Maybe I need to spend time with the tutorials to see and learn the differences but right now, that's how it feels to me. Lots of people have complained about the cost and I can understand why even though I don't agree. I've seen and purchased lots of add-on's that either look good but have crappy system depth and don't fly well (the JF L-1011 and TBM850 comes to mind) or are lacking something. PMDG seems to have nailed this one just like they did with the -NGX and its because it is a quality product that I did not hesitate to get it. Off to read the tutorials........ September 6, 201312 yr I don't see any better frames than the NGX but I push my fsx to the limit with full sliders. Overall it's the greatest addon ever created. PMDG are masters and it is definitely worth the wait. While I waited I flew their MD-11 and 747 and will be going back and forth between them all. Total masterpiece. Cannot wait for their 747V2. The 777 is expensive so it put me back a few months, no addons like the A2A Cessna or the new PFPX planner.
September 6, 201312 yr PMDG does it again...the best tubeliner in FSX...so far! Extreme systems modeling and looks that don't quit! The 777 runs butter-smooth on my system (I've never looked at FPS...doesn't matter to me) and, so far, has proven to be trouble-free over several LD flights. NGX is smooth also, so I can't really compare on that point. Running GEX, UTX, FSGenesis, UT2, Opus, GSX, with most FSX sliders full (I generally follow Nick's FSX options setup). Load time is very fast (FSX on dedicated SSD). System is Haswell i5-4670K OC'd to 4.2GHz with 8GB ram and a 2GB GTX 770 card. Scott Burns
September 6, 201312 yr I don't see better frames either, I'm not so happy?/satisfied? than others. I do get lower frames than the NGX. It feels like a big clumsy NGX Also the delay in switching views, waiting for textures to load. I wasn't getting the skeleton fuselage with the NGX, I'm getting it with the T7. I have a good system, less than a year old, I7 (Overclocked) 16 gigs, GTX 560i 1 gig card, turn off all unnecesary sceneries. I get about 32 frames in KLGA with the NGX heavy scenery, down to 24 when I undock the pfd mdf to use it in my full size (half) cockpit. The T7 goes down to 15 by just clicking on the PFD. I do have to admit that I don't have all the problems other users are having. It flies fine and everything works perfectly. The NGX is a work of art ... I know the T7 is in the hangar (I had to buy it to try it), but I'm a short hauler, the NGX and the DASH 8 are my aircrafts of choice. Chemanuel

If it were a woman, I could toss out my Viagra pills... I love the new King Kong plane, but honestly, it is SO big, it makes smaller airports (e.g. KSAN) look ridiculous. So I guess I will have to save the T7 for those long hauls and use the variable speed time compressor. I tried that briefly this morning, it did interfere with some of my controllers, but it's early days. Just sayin'... R. Maybe I need to spend time with the tutorials to see and learn the differences but right now, that's how it feels to me.I feel the same. The NGX is so good that transitioning to the 777 misses the wow for me. But I am happy owning both of them. cheers, NiIs U.AMD 5800X3D | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200MHz | RTX 4070 12GB @ 1920x1050px
September 6, 201312 yr From my perspective, it's the most truly stunning piece of software even released for FS. It does everything that it does with such authenticity, finesse and attention to quality. It feels alive in a way that no other aircraft add-on for FS has yet. I can see some operational similarities to the NGX but completely different (augmented) sound, visuals, handling, featues... it's certainly different enough to keep my attention. I love so many of the fantastic add-ons that we're lucky enough to be give then opportunity to use in this hobby at the moment (despite some haters making me out to be a ritual complainer in another thread.....), that between the 777, Airbus X A320, Majestic Q400, AS Twin Otter, NGX, and yes the A2A C172, there aren't enough hours in the day as far as I'm concerned and this hobby has never been better or more absorbing.
September 6, 201312 yr I too feel the similarities to NGX. Although the manual explicitly states otherwise, it does feel like the NGX on steroids, with a 2.0 upgrade to software or something. The MD-11, on the other hand, feels like a completely different animal. That's not to say that they're not all fabulous...the 777 is an amazing accomplishment on PMDG's part, and I'm glad to own it. But the very nature of the manner that Boeing builds their planes to make transitioning from one to the next as painless as possible creates the reality that once you learn one, the others might lack the "Wow" of that first one. I'm looking forward to the DC-6. That's going to have "Wow" in spades! Joe Legander
September 6, 201312 yr No complaints except that my FPS from other add-ons is not better. New hardware in the Fall may help with that though.
September 6, 201312 yr I joined your forum today when I found it was the support area for Precision Manuals. And I must say that I am very very happy with the 777 product. I have been buying Precision Manuals products since the Boeing 737NG in 2004, but this 777 is something else. If anyone does not have it yet - get it. it is amazing! Shomei Yokouchi
