P3D V2 is going to be available in a Month. Its DX11!

Actually I managed to find a fix to my problem. Flying as smooth as knife though butter.

And major addons will take another couple of years :)

What was your fix? Could be useful to others ;)

Essentially for some reason my REX Dx10 settings did not go through, so my water stayed in DX9 state. I went to FSWC website and downloaded DX10 wave animations and I did the job.

Well my DX9 with almost all sliders to the right hovers around 30fps. Only some sceneries like Anchorage or Honk Kong I get drops to 22-24

I agree with you skwaL that FPS counter on final can be more important than smoothness in other stages of flight. I'm lucky to have exactly the same FPS in Dx10 and Dx9+SweetFX. But SweetFX in Dx9 looks more pronounced in my case. Anyway, I've decided to stay with dx10+Bloom for now.

Was it in FSWCLITE or fswc3.15.zip?

Thanks,

Dirk.

Yeah, right...and I have some prime ocean front property just outside Tuscon Arizona,...that you REALLY need to see.....;)   Great price....what's your offer?  (wink!)  ^_^

No, go to http://www.strikingsoftware.com/downloads.shtml ..... the file on the bottom of the page "SHD Wave Animation for DX10"

But will PMDG be there...that is the real question.

Not sure you should make your decision on how the fixer performs based on one users findings.

I can tell you in my experience that all PMDG aircraft ( I have them all) perform smoother in DX10  I also have tested my GA  (Carenado & RealAir) and Dash 8 MQ and perform fantastic in DX10 as well. Everybody's system is different.

Exactly.   Especially where hardware differences (eg. ATI versus nVidia) are concerned.

My report of my findings was not intended to put anyone off buying the Fixer.   I'd recommend it is  worth buying it per se.  My report was only on complex airliners on my system.

What that report does not say is that I get stunning performance in DX10 when flying lighter GA aircraft, so I use the DX10 Fixer in those cases.

Plus...if you are running bloom in dx9 ok...then stick with dx9. Maybe someone else can chime in here, but, imo bloom looks far better in dx9, especially with REX lighting effects. Those effects don't seem to work in dx10 and VASI lights with bloom enabled just looks like a blob of lights versus beautiful refracted star patterns in dx9. Plus you don't get sun reflections off the canopy and guages in dx10.

Right on all accounts...so lovin' having gone back to a super-duper DX9......  For myself, I'm still getting DX10 performance across the board, but with all the DX9 feature sets added back into it....

But will PMDG be there...that is the real question.

On one side, PMDG has said that they will not develop products for P3D. But on another side, also said they want to exploit the market of training real pilots, which is P3D's core business.

Sooner or later this ought to be clarified.
