September 21, 201312 yr I'm just wondering - why does everyone love Lufthansa? I've never really understood why Lufthansa is such a popular airline, but maybe it is just because I live in the U.S. FSX: PMDG 744/MD11/JS41/736/737/738/739, CS752/753/763/C130, SimCheck A300, Leonardo MD82, MJC DH8D, Aerosoft CRJ7/CRJ9/A318/A319/A320/A321, RAZBAM Metroliner, ORBX Global, FlyTampa KBUF/OMDB/TNCM/VHHX, ActiveSky Next DCS: A-10C II/F-16C/AH-64D/F-15E/KA-50 III/Mi-24/Persian Gulf/Syria/F-15C XP11: FF 752/753, iniBuilds A306, HotStart TBM900 MSFS: Fenix A320, FS2Crew Fenix A320, FS2Crew Pushback Express, PMDG B77W, ActiveSky FS, Drzewiecki Design UUEE
September 21, 201312 yr I just returned from a KORD-EDDM-KORD trip via Lufthansa Business Class 2 weeks ago. Why do I like them? Service! I only fly them or Swiss, which is owned by Lufthansa, to/from Europe. I will not fly a US- flagged carrier, because their service levels are sub-par. Marty Becker PPL - Instrument Rating
September 21, 201312 yr Because Lufthansa is Lufthansa. They are known for their service, unfortunately it isn't quite as good as those gulf carriers but they put up a fight for sure. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
September 21, 201312 yr It's because of their customer service. In 2006, I boarded an LH flight Mumbai-Frankfurt with my late wife. As usual, I had to go through the pre-boarding security checks which meant emptying my pockets and putting everything in a tote tray.Included in that tray was my PDA which contained 10 years worth of IT data, tricks, shortcuts,links,1200+ contacts, diary. I was so occupied ensuring that my wife was okay as she had to go through a separate female security check, that I clean forgot my PDA in that tote tray. Only when we were seated, all doors closed, and the jetway retracted, I realised that I did not have my PDA with me. Panic overtook me, but I calmed down to go and explain to the German female purser my immense predicament. She did not know what a PDA was and eventually when I explained what it was and how much my job depended on the data within that PDA and how I could not afford to lose it, she went and saw the Capt as that A340-600 was waiting for push-back. LH called security and sure enough that PDA was still in that tote tray. The push-back was held until the ground crew delivered that PDA via the jetway. I was so, so grateful and relieved I gave that Purser a big hug. Back home I wrote a Letter of Thanks to the CEO at Lufthansa praising his crew and company's more-than-excellent service, and received a reply from him. That's why Lufthansa to me are tops when it comes to customer service. Rick Almeida
September 21, 201312 yr For me, Lufthansa means serious business & service. No nonsense German efficiency. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
September 21, 201312 yr Personally I like Lufthansa because Lufthansa Technik does the most interesting stuff regarding research into new maintenance procedures and introduction of new aircraft materials. Never actually flown on them though . John-Alan Pascoe
September 21, 201312 yr So what you are saying the Germans got something right??? I can only think of things they get right because they rarely get things wrong. Cars included. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
September 21, 201312 yr Safety, service & quality (Euro quality ^_^ ) That's all you need from an airline really.. Only made short euro hops with them but damn I sure liked the food. Especially the what I believe was 'apfelstrudel' Lucas Hollsten
September 22, 201312 yr Speaking of Germans. We are sitting in the office of a car dealership and just signed on the line for s Volkswagen Golf. Just waiting on the sales manager then we can go. Great cars Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
September 22, 201312 yr If the EURO was lower, German cars would be the only ones around in Texas except for the Ford F-150. I'm trying to avoid looking at an Audi A6. I have a friend with an A8......incredible car.
September 22, 201312 yr Personally I like Lufthansa because Lufthansa Technik does the most interesting stuff regarding research into new maintenance procedures and introduction of new aircraft materials. Never actually flown on them though . Thats what I like to call German Ingenuity.
September 22, 201312 yr I have a lot of hours in business class in Lufthansa. When Lufthansa calls a flight, as the joke goes, "Lufthansa flight 230 is now ready for boarding. You WILL check in at Gate 3". I have flown Lufthansa numerous times from Frankfurt to Cairo (code share with UAL) and to KL and Singapore. The first flight I ever took on an Airbus 340 was to Cairo. A very impressive flight at the time. Wifi, lay flats, excellent service. Having said all that, the Asian Airlines cannot be topped in terms of service. Malaysia Air, Asiana and ANA all rate very high in my books.
September 22, 201312 yr I've flown on them long haul a few times. My last round I was not pleased, every flight left late. My flight from Dallas to Frankfurt left two hours late, I barely made my connection. My flight from Munich to Newark left four hours late, I missed my connection. Overall, the airline seems ok, and the interiors of their aircraft are nice. My only real complaint is the east bound and west bound flights have the same entertainment selections. I like how American has one set of movies east bound, and one set west part. If I watch everything going east bound on Munich, I'm bored coming back west bound. Derek
September 22, 201312 yr I found Lufthansa and Swiss to be good airlines in terms of service. Though, to be fair, I had spent the preceding 3 weeks dealing with Trenitalia (Italian Train company, and yes I know what it rhymes with!) and a few low cost carriers so anything would have been an improvement on that! Emirates business class is fantastic, on a par with many airlines' first class offerings in my view. I've not had the occasion to try Emirates first class but boy did it look good from the sneaky glance I had! Mark Adeane - NZWN
