Fuel Dump Simulated?

Featured Replies

As mentioned in the topic. I would say that fuel dumping isnt simulated in this thing?

Great work PMDG. I absolutely love flying this work horse!

Why would you say it's not simulated? Practically every aspect of the aircraft has been simulated by PMDG.

The system will automatically dump enough fuel to bring you down to below the Maximum Landing Weight. If you want to manually set how much fuel is to remain, you have to click on the knob to pull it out, and then adjust. Make sure you arm the system (switch on the far right, partially blocked by the knob), then move the plastic covers and turn the nozzles on. It can be slow, so be patient.

Hope that helps,

Keane Bourke

I think Michael is asking whether the visual effect of fuel being dumped is included.

Exactly....I should have been more specific...

I'de love to see it. I did a YouTube search of it stimulated in FSX but didn't come across anything.  I did see some reality videos though.

Looks like I'll have to carry some 'excess' fuel next flight. ;)

Bob Quick

When setting to dump fuel Manually what is monitored while making the Increase / Decrease adjustments (ie. FMC, etc)?

If memory serves me right it is on the lower part of the EICAS under the fuel totals. You can also monitor on the fuel page of the lower display.

I was actually doing a fuel dump last night and it worked fine. I saw the fuel being dumped.

Fuel dump is simulated both systems-wise and visually.

I recorded a video with one in it but ended up scrapping it because it was in the middle of the night, and it just looked half-rate (not that much of my stuff looks too professional anyway).

Yep.  Had to dump some fuel today.  Worked like a charm!

Come on Kyle, I find that your videos are well put together. I prefer them over the heavily edited light bloomed filled, over contrasted, Dramatic music, heavity vignetted, heavy panning and camera switching videos that we see today.

Here's what it looks like in the real thing. Korean Air 777 Sunday outbound from DFW had an engine failure on takeoff and had to dump fuel to get below max landing weight. I wondered why our water tasted funny.
