He is most likely seeing it scale at 50%/50% usage or 60/40 etc etc..  Which is just one card worth of work happening.

Crossfire/SLI properly scaling with be  80%/80% or 90%/90% etc..

Nope, I was able to get a solid 85/85 or so.

It's never been officially supported by any version of the sim IIRC, but I've run it in FS9 and FSX. To be perfectly honest it isn't really required unless you push supersampling to ridiculous levels .

You can force AFR in anything really. Whether you benefit or not is the question. With the sims it's tough without using supersampling simply because you often will hit some other bottleneck, usually CPU, first.

That's right.. My short term memory is terrible. I'm not even thinking clearly (beer!!) I use to own a 6990 and forced AFR in P3D 1.4 all the time and I think the only benefit was it not hitting 100% usage on a single card when forcing SuperSampling and avoiding invoking stuttering.

Nvidia is a bit different. You can force AFR all day long but if there isn't an SLI profile, it will never scale past 50/50.. It may even make performance worse.. Thankfully Nvidia is fantastic with providing SLI profiles..

With the exception of Flight Sims..

Then maybe read my post properly or make it clear what it is you don't understand?

Disgusting.

  I'm with you man.  Disgusting.

Three things that disgust me, in no particular order.    Murder, high memory usage in flight sims and burglary.

Then maybe read my post properly or make it clear what it is you don't understand?

Disgusting.

Yes disgusting and horrible post , found it disturbing , but couldn't look away

First, I don't understand the 'disgusting' thing at the end of your post and then I don't understand when you say:

What's the point of having fancy new features and effects that you can't use with your favorite addons because of this? Would make far more sense to get the core issue sorted first and go from there.

When you say, 'get the core issue sorted first' do I assume you mean it being 64 bit or is there something else I've missed? Cheers

Well life ain't right if I don't have something to say I'm disgusted about.

As for the second part, you are correct - I was referring to the issue of making P3D a 64bit platform. It sounds like some of P3Ds new features, while being very cool, do take a toll on VAS usage. As we load more complicated addons into the sim there probably won't be the headroom to squeeze as much in. This may or may not be solved by lowering some settings. It just seems unfortunate to have to lower settings to free up VAS when performance may otherwise be great and to me it defeats the purpose of having those features in there to begin with.

I guess we will just have to hope for the best. I'll be keeping a close eye on the development of this for sure but won't be moving until there are some satisfactory ways around this problem.

Well life ain't right if I don't have something to say I'm disgusted about.

After reading a few of your comments, well poorly disguised attacks, I can only assume that if your iq was any lower, you would need watering my friend.

Howard, this guy has been disgusted with something or another since the time he joined Avsim a few months ago, as you can see by his post history. I'm starting to think he's one of the guys who was banned a while ago with like 20 different aliases.

Your attitude disgusts me and I'm surprised you haven't been warned about it.

I continue to receive "scenario failed to load errors" I have given up in disgust.

Problem is, it removed and destroyed all DLC that was released for version 2013 so if you go to the product's forums it is full of disgusted users who have virtually had all their DLC purchases removed from the simulator and chucked in the ********** bin with no guarantee of any compatibility updates. That is absolutely disgusting and they should be taken to court.

The disgusting thing is the costs involved in learning to fly are discouraging for people too and even getting into to FS properly now generally involves a pretty hefty investment.

If the money was going to you then it certainly would be disgusting!

Pretty disgusting otherwise.

If I can't use it in P3D V2.0 on release I will be absolutely disgusted.

Sir, with respect, as a long time "lurker" on these forums, your comment here disgusts me.

This thread is disgusting

You may not like people making unfavourable comparisons of P3D but for those of us who can't afford to buy multiple simulators and associated add-ons and need to budget carefully for hardware upgrades etc., which one to commit to is a serious decision, and comparisons to platforms we're already using are very helpful in making that choice.

Entirely fair point! Do as some others have suggested: stick with FSX for the time, don't be offended by comments like "FSX is now officially dead" and keep a careful eye on Prepar3d progress.

Some problems are already being addressed by LM and others have community fixes, so I'm guessing it won't be long till we're looking at a stable and predictably performing platform.

Good advice, I agree... to suggest FSX is dead is rediculous. How can something be binned overnight that has given, and still is giving, so much pleasure and enjoyment to so many of us, regardless of it's behaviour.

I for one will be waiting before I install P3D. Probably a couple of months, to read the feedback and to glean as much information as possible, so that when I do install, I do so with the right knowledge to get everything working correctly

Ok, that's good.

One up for ATI.

Exactlky. I am building a home cockpit atm which is very expensive and I certainly dont watn to rush into choosing what software platform to run!
