December 1, 201312 yr Reporting an issue is one thing, and yes, absolutely, please do. In most cases myself and many others here are happy to try and help. Claiming release should have been held for a seemingly rare anti-aliasing issue is not even remotely the same thing. Ah yeah thanks for all your help  er criticism. There's a new "thingy" that fixes the jaggies in FSX and P3D if you have the latest NVidia drivers and that's with FXAA turned on. Several months ago FXAA did not work at all in FSX (and probably not P3D either). Now it does and even for FSX!!. Turn it on!! Up in post #14, I don't like the NI configuration especially for the AA Supersampling of 4x's Sparse Grid Supersampling. The setting should be turned off or no higher than 2x's. If you have a really powerful system, leave it at 4x's but it is not necessary as FXAA fixes the problems. LM has FXAA turned on in the P3D.cfg so make sure it is also on in the display driver/NI settings for P3D. Here are my P3D NI settings that are working for me: Hope it helps others. I would also recommend everyone check out the new AVSIM FSX/P3D Configuration Guide V2. A link to it is in my signature. Right now it is mostly centered on FSX but a lot of it applies to P3D too. Best regards, Jim Thanks Jim..I'll give that a try tomorrow.
December 1, 201312 yr That is good to hear. It would also be nice to have full Nvidia Inspector compatibility to get the 1/2 vsync refresh rate working. A must for many simmers coming from FSX. My FSX is still much smoother then P3d at this time. P3D vsync works perfectly on my Win 7/64 system (GTX660Ti and the latest Nvidia WHQL drivers) when activated from within in the graphics setup menu in the sim. For vsync to work properly in W7 with P3D, it is essential that an Aero theme be active for the Windows desktop prior to launching P3D. No Aero, no vsync. Not sure what the situation is in a Win 8 or 8.1, since Aero (as such) doesn't exist. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. December 1, 201312 yr No difference here using NI! LM's even stated the Nvidia drivers arent going to recgnize any difference using NI and P3DV2. Thats why they are working with Nvidia to get som compatability. I think you will find alot about FSX tweaks is alot different for Prepar3DV2. I get far better results from P3D settings.
December 1, 201312 yr On my 680, with your settings applied, my spot views at altitude look quite good - almost exactly like yours. However, close to the ground near airports, or on the ground at airports, the runway lines are noticeably jagged. I also get shimmering shadows in the cockpit and on terrain. So while it's possible to improve things, NVidia AA isn't all the way there yet - as Alec just posted, and as LM has said. So it seems that we still need a fix. But if you're getting good with runway lines and shadows, that's great - it'd be good to see some screenshots in the airport environment. Now that makes more sense.. I can't remember back to runway lines but glad to hear I'm not going crazy and that this does at least work good in some respects.. December 1, 201312 yr "Why aren’t NVIDIA driver overrides aren’t working?Rest assured that we aren’t disabling these on purpose. We want all our users to have the broadest set up tweaks and tools at their disposal to get the most out of Prepar3D v2. We’ve been working with NVIDIA to try to track this down. Some of the overrides may not actually work with any D3D11 application. Thus far, NVIDIA has not given us any feedback to indicate that we need to do anything more on our end to enable these overrides. We will keep working with them to resolve the issue. For now, most driver overrides won’t work." From the developer himself Alexis Mefano
December 1, 201312 yr Ah yeah thanks for all your help  er criticism. Whinge nonsensically and my desire to help evaporates. That said I wish you luck with your issue. I am sure, in time, a solution will be provided. Regards,Brian Doney

December 1, 201312 yr Thanks....your desire is one thing but you haven't added any "help" to the thread. Entirely due to reading your comments before my first reply. Best to take any further interactions to PM, wouldn't you say ? EDIT: This is getting a bit off the path here, and I take responsibility for my part in that. I won't edit my comments as I did say them. My intention was not to derail the thread or offend you. I do sincerely hope a solution presents itself. Regards,Brian Doney

The problem is the NI 1/2 refresh rate doesnt work as it does with fsx. This is what cures the scenery micro stuttering. Fly at low level and watch the scenery go by the wing from the vc. This is where I notice it most. Matt Wilson
December 1, 201312 yr Well...Jim Young's NI suggestions and re-engaging the FXAA fixed the jaggie runway edges for me! Many thanks for that, as they were not pretty (not enough to send me running). I really appreciate everyone's input, P3Dv2 gets better every day. December 1, 201312 yr Here are my P3D NI settings that are working for me: Jim - Thanks for this - just upgraded to the 331.82 driver and tried your settings. Overall look is great, but unlike GregG, I've still got jagged runway edges and shimmering shadow borders. I'll need to tweak further tomorrow... or maybe just stand by for an NVidia update. If you can think of what I ought to be tweaking, I'm open. Thanks again! Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
December 1, 201312 yr I've still got jagged runway edges and shimmering shadow borders I definitely do not see jagged runway edges and shimmering with the settings above. I think we are going to have to wait until P3D and NVidia figure out what the problem might be with the AA. I just completed a flight out of LAX and saw a tint of jaggies on the aircraft shadows but it could barely be seen. If I had not known about this problem (and I just learned there is a problem) I would have not seen the tint of jaggies. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 1, 201312 yr FXAA in P3DV2 will greatly remove jagged edges and shimmering, at the cost of blurry textures and almost unreadable gauges.. Tried every combination in the world the last week.

P3D has an adaptive Vsync provided your GPU supports it. Cant see what GPU you have, but for the most part its the higher end ones which seems to solve alot of problems.
