December 1, 201312 yr Chalk another one up having poor AA performance. NI Inspector not effective at all even if trying to adjust the Global profile. Running latest drivers GTX780. In game settings seem marginal at best. Alt Tab to get out of blacks screen I launch and close sessions in windowed mode to avoid. Several other threads on this already. Modify NI settings by clicking on the "screwdriver + wrench" icon right side middle of inspector screen when you hover your mouse over it it will say "driver profile screen". RE Thomason Jr.
December 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member There's a new "thingy" that fixes the jaggies in FSX and P3D if you have the latest NVidia drivers and that's with FXAA turned on. Several months ago FXAA did not work at all in FSX (and probably not P3D either). Now it does and even for FSX!!. Turn it on!! Up in post #14, I don't like the NI configuration especially for the AA Supersampling of 4x's Sparse Grid Supersampling. The setting should be turned off or no higher than 2x's. If you have a really powerful system, leave it at 4x's but it is not necessary as FXAA fixes the problems. LM has FXAA turned on in the P3D.cfg so make sure it is also on in the display driver/NI settings for P3D. Here are my P3D NI settings that are working for me: Hope it helps others. I would also recommend everyone check out the new AVSIM FSX/P3D Configuration Guide V2. A link to it is in my signature. Right now it is mostly centered on FSX but a lot of it applies to P3D too. Best regards, Jim Thanks Jim - I've been looking for this. cheers jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
December 1, 201312 yr I just finished some testing and maxed all of my settings. Still got a pretty solid 50 fps but the AA issue is definitely seen on nearby runways (and not on the runway you are at). But I just wanted to see if I could duplicate your blurry textures. No blurries but, in photoreal areas, there was some delay in full rendering. That's fixed by lowering settings. I'm not seeing blurry textures in the cockpits though like some others are seeing. Thanks for investigating, Jim. Your description pretty much matches what I'm seeing. The runway line AA problem is most visible when I'm perpendicular to the runway - say in a parking spot, or approaching an intersection. Re: blurries - I don't have the traditional kind, but with FXAA enabled in-game, autogen textures are a bit over-smoothed - they look like they've been over-corrected in Photoshop. I suspect it's a matter of taste whether people like them or not. The same goes for the AA issue overall - for me it's not a showstopper, at least not a week in, when we're waiting for third-party developers to address many other compatibility issues. But I can see why others would really object. Looking forward to a solution from LM as soon as they can get things straightened out with NVidia. December 1, 201312 yr Seems this time i am a happy dude . With my settings posted above, i have no runwayjaggies (FXAA does the trick), the terrain is detailed without flickering (4/8xMSAA removes ist) and no more flickering lines and dials in VC (at least 4xSGSAA neccessary. 8x is nearly perfect but too "hungry"). Cant see any texture blurries w/o FXAA with above settings. I bet as in fsx with dx10 you can totaly forget Supersampling settings in NI - it has no effect. Just check "enhance" in NI and use 4/8xSGSAA. I limited framerates in NI (30) and set unlimited in P3D (same as in FSX) by the way - works like a charme. No external tool needed. But as always your mileage may vary.... B)
December 2, 201312 yr I saw no changes using NI, but I did smooth out jagged runway markings using SweetFX v1.5 with the SMAA anti-aliasing threshold set to 0.12. This helped me immensely. With SweetFX 1.5.1 (using SweetFX Configurator) I set the Lift Gamma Gain shadow settings to 1.1/1.1/1.1 and that helped a lot by brightening up the dark and unreadable panels. Also, the Lumasharpen feature (set to 1.5) helped de-blur some of the fine text on the gauges, like the barely-readable-on-a-good-day Carenado B200 HSI. In the sim, I have FXAA off, MSAA at 2, in NI I have 4XSGSS, and in SweetFX the aforementioned adjustments. Runway still shimmers a bit, and the scenery is now very sharp albeit with the color a bit washed out because of the gamma, but it's a good compromise while LM and nVidia sort out the AA problems. Also, I note that the people who are having success with firehawk44's settings all seem to be running GTX780s...might be that the latest changes in the nVidia unified drivers are leaving the earlier generations out...wouldn't be the first time for that. Unfortunately not the case on my end, I have a 780GTX and NI settings seem to have no effect in P3D for me. I have used it with great results in FSX and other applications. I can live with the in game options for now I'm confident this will be resolved shortly. Graphically speaking I find FTX Global's land class issue much more objectionable. RE Thomason Jr.
December 2, 201312 yr Unfortunately not the case on my end, I have a 780GTX and NI settings seem to have no effect in P3D for me. Same here - shimmering shadows and runway jaggies with a 780GTX and an i7 4770K OC'd at 4.3GHz...
December 2, 201312 yr Looks like Road Traffic isn't covered by AA on my computer. From a distance all cars look like bright white dots moving around. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Are you a Window or Fullscreen user ? I also have NI problems , even in DX10 FSX in windowed mode. Are any of you using a batch file for Aero like we do in FSX ? Does NI recognise these batchfiles ? .... everybody talking about 50-60fps ?? Where ? Aircraft ? I am about 25-35fps Michael Moe
December 2, 201312 yr Everybody talking about 50-60fps ?? Where ? Aircraft ? I am about 25-35fps Everybody ain't, and take everything you hear with a grain of salt until you see it with your own eyes. I had 250 fps lined up at 4L at KJFK, but let's just say the graphics looked like FS5 Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Does NI recognise these batchfiles ? .... everybody talking about 50-60fps ?? Where ? Aircraft ? I am about 25-35fps With P3D V2 in the Maule in Southern Alaska I'm getting 30-40 fps in most areas, dropping to upper 20's in congested areas (PAKT). I have all graphics sliders maxxed, all shadows enabled (cast and receive), and AI traffic all set around 25% except for cars at 10%. FXAA on, MSAA 2x, anisotropic filtering at 16x, and the same NI settings that I used to run for FSX with DX10 except 2SGSS instead of 4SGSS. I use a batch file through FSUIPC to turn Aero on (thanks Word Not Allowed!). I have FTX Global installed but no other scenery enhancements. Running FSUIPC and GSX, no other add-ons. I am running full screen and windowed, both at 2560 x 1440 x 32bpp. I get about 5 fps faster full screen than windowed. I have major shimmering in the shadow edges, mild tree shimmers, and runway jaggies. The aircraft inside and out looks wonderful. Very smooth with no stutters. OpusFSX and my install of P3D V2 aren't compatible (P3D V2 crashes on running OpusFSX) but Stephen from OpusFSX will have that fixed sometime soon, likely today. Scott

I have similar results with respect to the FPS gain going from windowed to full screen as well as what you are seeing with respect to the shimmering and jaggies. As stated previously I think these issues will get sorted in short order especially with LM talking to Nvidia. RE Thomason Jr.
December 2, 201312 yr NI DOES not work on V2.0. It simply ignores all settings. And once again as said over and over again, this is simply NOT true! As other's have posted, some settings do have an effect.
December 2, 201312 yr And once again as said over and over again, this is simply NOT true! As other's have posted, some settings do have an effect. Still not convinced. Just tried for the 14th time. No change that my eyes can conceive. Ill wait untill LM says its working or not. if someone were kind enough to send me there V2 NI profile, I would be very pleased to try it and have it working. PM me.
