PMDG will announce their X-Plane project within the next 2 months

Featured Replies

From PMDG: We will be unveiling the project sometime in the next 60 days (estimated) and we will also announce the second project for Xplane at that time...

Given their track record of meeting deadlines I seriously doubt it.

Bingo!

They don't really follow any 'deadlines' per-say.

Bingo!

Given their track record with timelines, it's probably best to simply ignore that they said an announcement is coming in the next 60 days and just pretend it didn't happen.

Bingo! (but that was my own post...)

A good formula to follow is to take what RSR says and add about 6 to 7 months to it, that way you won't get your hopes up. :)

Bingo!

But there is NO WAY this will be announced in 60 days. There is a good chance it will be Xmas before you hear of anything. And I am only talking about an announcement; let alone the actual plane.

60 days in pmdg time ;)

Is that like dog years?

Remember when Neil deGrasse Tyson talked about the Cosmic Calendar on Cosmos? Well... in the whole scheme of things, it's kinda like that.

cosmos-4.jpg

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I tend to believe that PMDG's 1st add-on for XP10 will be a multiprop - probably the dc-6

I also tend to believe that that's the reason why Austin had to create those 6 additional datarefs, allowing devs to fine tune moments, and that way overcome the poor modeling of prop effects in X-Plane... I guess the PMDG devs were not willing to accept it just as it is so poorly modeled in X-Plane, and indeed, those datarefs can do miracles if used with knowledge.

So... I am looking fwd for a dc-6 as the inaugural PMDG aircraft for X-Plane...

You mean:

fside_plug_acf

Not sure if that's needed at all for a multiprop as you simply set half the engines spin the other way around. I might use that in my next PC12 update for takeoff.

Anyway it's kind of silly from Pmdg to announce something that they cannot reach even close.

Howdy CyberMike ( yes, your pc-12 was one of my preferred add-ons for xp10  ! )

Yes, I'm talking about:

sim/flightmodel/forces/fside_plug_acf

sim/flightmodel/forces/fnrml_plug_acf

sim/flightmodel/forces/faxil_plug_acf

and

sim/flightmodel/forces/L_plug_acf

sim/flightmodel/forces/M_plug_acf

sim/flightmodel/forces/N_plug_acf

Even on a prop aircraft with Counter rotating props, which is not the case of a dc-6, and I have absolutely no clue than my imagination about the PMDG dc-6 going to be the first xplane add-on from PMDG..., the use of such datarefs could be beneficial to simply correct or add what is simply NOT modeled in x-plane.

I wish I could have proper slipstream / propwash modeling, including the ,interaction with various aircraft surfaces, lift generation or not, etc...

The big problem is that without RW data on such variables, any dev will have to guess, use trial & error....

IMO the more serious announce is that they'll start to convert an FSX aircraft (777 or NGX I guess) , it shows that they had a great experience with XP and they are going to support this platform even further beyond this expremental project...

Just dream that we will have IXEG and PMDG in the same platform , and now stop dreaming cause it's going to happen :D

Lol, great summary guys... It just ain't gonna happen in this lifetime..

We have enough GA for X-Plane, we really need a high quality commercial airliner.

IXEG 737

IXEG 737

It will be a head to head competition with PMDG when it comes to delayed releases. The IXEG 737 was supposed to be released for XP 9 :), then around Christmas 2013...and right now they are still into FMS developement, tuning, bug fixing, documentation etc. I think we're lucky if we see this bird released at the end of 2015. But it'll be worth the wait.

Flo B.

You guys know what will be fun???

IXEG to actually be PMDG with another name for X-plane, they both trying to develop plane since XP9 and they are both close to release!!!

LOL!
