FTX: Global openLC Europe Released

Yes, but it´s way behind UTX concerning accuracy and detail!

Check the river going through Bangkok in Thailand, half is missing, and many other issues around the world.

They release the products not completed, and we end up with countless SP´s - I won´t pay for that, and def. not pay for their arrogant "customer service".

PS: Talking about Vector here, don´t know the LC yet...

just installed LC it is absolutely brilliant,I like flying from places such as Innsbruck and Nice all those mountains !,low and slow and I can only say to my eye,s the increase in detail is amazing,Only cost £20 quid money well spent, using with P3dv2.2,Gobal ,Vector, and Genesis mesh,I used to use GEX ,UTX,and I believe Scenery-tech ? with Genesis mesh, this was sometime ago in Fsx,and can not remember Fsx looking any where near  as  good as this present combination and i am getting 50/60fps unlocked, with no stutters and no increase in load up times that i can notice  but I haven't timed it,just want the USA now, just the icing on this brilliant cake

peter

I will not be purchasing since I only fly in the US.  Speaking of - sure hope US openLC is next!

Oh... Looking at some of these posts, I seriously regret posting in this thread earlier. If I only knew where I was getting myself into...

Ok, everyone, I'm very sorry, all those products are nice and cheap, I was wrong, Orbx rock etc etc. :-p

Back to the 777-300ER waiting thread...

John Venema said that the creation of the other openLC regions will be much faster compared to Europe, so the roadmap might be accurate. Besides, in 2016-2017 they will be introducing the openLC 2.0 regions.

That time i might wanna change my pants because there will be no pockets left in it to carry enough money.

Is openLC that much better than UTX Europe LC (photo scenery extras aside)? Still trying to understand where I'm going to get the most bang for my $40. :-)

Of course it is......UTX Europe landclass is just that....landclass. It will only use the default (or Global) texture pallet.

Open LC uses GB's of extra textures in addition to the textures that are already included with FTX Global. In addition, some areas have been made photoreal.

Huge differences.

I plan on keeping UTX Europe active for the vector data and disabling the landclass and ground polys in the UTX Config program.

Then the FTX OpenLC product will work just fine as intended.

One question that hasn't been answered, yet. At 9+ Gbs of data, what is the impact on loadup times, and performance in game? In FSX? In P3dv2?

  Jazz

I haven't noticed any difference in startup times or performance in P3Dv2.

There are reports that with FTX Global and openLC, the textures in England are sharper compared to the FTX region. Can someone with both make a few comparisons?

They need to prove why it's worth the ridiculous price they are asking.  Throughout the history of FSX landclass has come and gone.. From free, to very fairly priced per what it covered. ie: SceneryTech = $19 for Europe.

Orbx seems to have a "It's us, so just pay more" philosophy.  No doubt they are good at what they do but that doesn't mean they don't have to actually sell me first.. $40 landclass that only consists of Europe is insanity. Especially when it requires a $100 purchase first.

Get the heck out of here..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The product has over 8,000 unique files.   I have been flying it for over two hours in P3D.   Was one of my best ORBX purchases (with use) to date!  It gives WAY BEYOND the 39.00 AUS they are asking.  In what this does for either P3D or FSX....a no brainer.  MPO.

All the preview screenshots at orbx forum consist of FS Global 2010, FTX Global, FTX Vector and openLC Europe, so there you go.

Global, Vector, and Europe OpenLC. Dat's all....

Wow so much negativity!

Yep.

(and good on Richard Sennet for standing his corner whilst getting talked down to and condescended by certain people).

So it's 40 AUD, which is the UK equates to £21 - for which it is an absolute bargain.   I bought it this morning, and it is fantastic, I can't get the smile off my face!   Not only does it contain all the landclass but there are many many new texture sets too - it really transforms Europe - I've been flying in Romania today; a bland area I wouldn't go near in default FSX, but with Global / Vector / LC it looks fantastic.

At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinion.  If you think it's too pricey, or you don't want it, that's cool.    But considering all the negativity and hating on the first page, from people who haven't even bought or seen it! .... it just looks like an anti-Orbx agenda, rather than anything product specific.

I'm relatively new to FSX - I tried it in 2007 and thought it was dire.  Everything about it, but especially the ground textures.   A friend recommended I try FSX again, 4 months ago, and that I pick up FTX Global and Vector, OpusFSX and the A2A aircraft.   I did, and I am flabergasted at how the good the experience is now.

I'll post some screenies in the screenshot section in the next day or too.   (Hopefully they'll get a look or too as the last 3 or 4 sets of screenies I posted in there, never enticed a single reply :P )

Like many others in here I'm on the fence.

Today I'm using a mix of FTX Global, FS Global Ultimate Europe, UTX and Scenery Tech both also for Europe. I'm already happy with this combo but sure...if there are alternatives that will further improve what I already got I'm always interested.

To me it's not so much about money because I don't have any problem investing in what to me is a great hobby I really enjoy. In this case $40 will barely even get me a good dinner out with something to drink. And that dinner will last for an hour or two where a good product for FSX will keep me happy for months or even years.

No, to me it's more about if the improvement over what I already got is big enough to justify the cost and I guess that's something I'll try to figure out by following threads like this one.

Craig very nice of you buddy to make this statement - I just know I have never been let down by any Orbx products and try to pass on the passion Orbx puts into Their products - Thanks again
