V2.3 is Released Woo Hoo

I tried to install patch over 10438 anyway, No love. Installer just closed mid way. They will surely create a second patch to address this. It won't be hard for them to create an uninstaller for the hot patch. I'm going to wait a few days for that.

Oh, I stand corrected.  It worked fine. The installer didn't give a "completed" message, but I am patched to 2.3 and all is good.  No need to wait for a new patch.

I'm getting an error trying to install the patch. "Prepar3D was unable to load some program files and will now exit"

Any one else had this error?

Program running OK?  Add-ons running OK?

Great if so - just want to make sure there are no hidden traps before I try this myself.

Thanks for the report!

Has anyone noted any major addons that break with this install? Downloading the full big one now, but want to make sure stuff like ASN, Aerosoft AXE, and Orbx stuff works still as before.

Thanks!

William Sequeira

Do all the Orbx airports still work I've managed to get all but two of the NA airports to work in V2  and don't wanna mess anything up haha.

I've only see TWO messages about a CTD (other than yours) on LMs forum ... one on Win8.x with possible missing DX9c for audio support and the other was another patch attempt not a complete wipe and install.

30 seconds to install means it's not installed ... suggest you list out your OS Event Log entries to see if you can see any errors.  You also didn't indicate how much free disk space you have on your C: drive nor where OS temp files are pointing to?

I'm trying to help, but if you really want help ... you'll need to be forth coming with specific information.

Cheers, Rob.

both C:\windows\temp, and P3DV22 (not C:\)  destination partitions have >50G free space

cannot find any event logs of date, not sure where to look

so I guess I will just uninstall/reinstall like everyone else is laboring through

@Rob

I seem to remember some videos of 2.3 you posted.

Would you be able to confirm if ASN and some other major addons work fine with this new version?

William Sequeira

So, is this the proper way....you use the uninstaller routine for P3D 2.2....then reboot...and install 2.3?

Any problems with the license being renewed?

Rob...I saved those files you told us to do. Now...after the complete full install, do I hunt down those folders...and bring back all the files I just backed up from my v2.2 install?  Is that what you are suggesting to save installed add-on programs?

Wonder if we can leave 2.2 and load new full installer as a separate program ?

Yes, no problems.  I deleted the files per Rob's post above and then just installed the patch over 10438. Everything runs fine after a 5 minute flight.

Most obvious differences to me: nice performance increase, great night lighting, water looks better.

I think everyone is making it way too complicated.  First try installing the patch (after deleting the files Rob mentioned). Do this even if you have version 2.2 10438. If that doesn't work, you haven't lost much effort. Then you can try the full install. Give the patch installer some time. It takes awhile to build the files.

Not Rob, but I think he would say no, let P3D rebuld the directories.  You can probably copy over your exe file if you have one to load startup programs like SPAD.

What a bloody mess this has turned into....

When I try to uninstall P3D v2.2...I get the following message....and no un-install:

A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C:\Windows\Installer\Prepar3D.msi

Any suggestions?  Anyone....

Is there a way to by-pass the Windows un-installer...and un-install P3D v2.2 manually?

Yes, no problems.  I deleted the files per Rob's post above and then just installed the patch over 10438. Everything runs fine after a 5 minute flight.

Thanks for the reply and good to know.  Others (on the LM forums) are reporting crashes with the patch but I'm guessing they haven't wiped the necessary files/folders.

I suppose there's no harm in trying the patch - and on the upside, if it works, I've got hours of my life back.

Will check and advise, though not sure when.

Simmers making things complicated?  Nah... that'd never happen...  B)
