June 25, 201510 yr Not entirely. I am speaking only of an aircraft model's mesh and textures. Some minor changes in the "FSX Material" properties may require some additional tweaking of Alpha channels, but by and large nothing of real consequence. As for Rob's question regarding attached .fx "lights" some fundamental changes to the .fx files needs to be made. Again, this isn't really that much of a much. However, depending on the complexity of the gauge and panel systems, significant changes may well need to be made. For the vast majority of the less-complex gauges though, not much if anything will necessary. For scenery though, some very significant changes have been made, most of which concerns the dropping of support for the ancient .asm methods carried forward since FS7. This has required a great amount of re-development effort since a lot of the more advanced scenery animations and visibility conditions were dependent on assembly language! It is only very recently that SODE (Scenery Object Design Editor) has been developed that will now replace most of what was "lost..." Thank you Sir for what may be one of, if not the most open and honest statement ever made on the subject here in the forum. For N400QW...it is not my wish to have developers bashed for the price they charge. i have never complained about the price and have many times told other members here that "You have to Pay to Play". It is a very simple process really. You make a product and set a price. If I want it I send you the money and you send me the product. I don't want to be ripped off and I want to pay you a fair price for you time, talent and effort. My question was more about how long the process takes and the many examples of "oh we charge because it takes so much work to move a model from FSX to P3D". Having said that it is understood that the deeper the system is modeled then perhalps the more time it takes. Once again, Thanks Bill for you reply. I hope the "I want it free crowd" don't tare your arm off and beat you to death with it. June 25, 201510 yr The smaller the market the higher the cost of products ... the more it's pirated the higher the cost of the products (irony here is that Pirates can only exist if honest people exist - and for some reason pirates consider themselves as honest people - talked about a Dichotomy). But is there anyone here (nothing to do with being 3rd party developer) willing to have how much YOU (in the generic sense not targeting anyone specific) get paid be de-valued because other's think you get overpaid for whatever work you do even though they don't know what you do, don't know what is needed technically to accomplish what you do, and how many hours per day you do it for? Yes there is some (certainly NOT a majority case) cashing in happening with P3D "versions", if you don't like that, don't buy that. The only downside I see to the cashing in on P3D users is it can be used to "keep" users on that 3rd parties "preferred" platform aka FSX (because it's not changing, and has been learned, doesn't require extra effort even if relatively small effort). But FSX/P3D SDK is available to all ... if anyone is at all interested in the actual work involved, embrace the SDK and make your own product ... there are plenty of SDK elements that require NO programming experience at all. Cheers, Rob.

Cheers, Rob. LOL, I was thinking of becoming a developer except I don't have any training in programming or design. I also don't have a computer that would run all the software needed and on that subject, I don't have any of the software either. It should also be said that I have zero ability when it comes to picking colors or drawing. I find rulers to be very complicated to operate. I am 68 years old and my nap time and cigar time are very important to me. Most of my waking hours are spent with family and a bit of sim flying. I suspect that many of the folks out there complaining about You fancy Dev guys getting rich at least in part fit this profile. They should shut up and if they want nice products then just pay the price. Easy peezy and no nap time is lost using this system. June 25, 201510 yr You fancy Dev guys getting rich at least in part fit this profile Haha ... I didn't make money because of my career path, I made money because of my investments. But like Bill has suggested in the past ... my fear of actually doing a professional P3D product and really getting stuck into the SDK is that I'll virtually fly less and probably NOT want to see my simulator. Maybe that will change in the future, just have to see what P3D V3 and V4 bring and if I decide to retire giving me free time to actually work the SDK. Cheers, Rob.

June 25, 201510 yr In order to reduce overhead RAM usage, P3D will mimic the corporate attitude that is making < lot of> very few people very rich. 1) all scenery deemed unpopulated will be eliminated. 2) any unused airports will be closed indefinably. 3) All AI must now be imagined in the user's mind. Just imagine the infinite possibilities here folks ! 4) To save on weather cloud textures, one white-out condition will be applied globally, the "challenge to you" a great new feature.. 5) To add to the newness challenge, P3D will update its cockpits to MS modern "Flight" style... = no cockpits. results" fps = 449 or more

June 26, 201510 yr Flight simulation gives me so much pleasure and a sense of satisfaction. Performed a flight from FACT to FALE last night and scenery, simulation, all near perfect. All addons (ASN, PROATC X, REX, etc) working together in perfect harmony..I don't worry how rich developers are or how much i spend for a good product. We have so much choice and i say to all developers: WELL DONE!
