What's going on with P3D

Featured Replies

P3D 2 is still highly CPU dependent - let's hope v3 will address that balance of gpu/cpu

If DX12 is as supported as much as it can be in this engine then it could be you'll get your wish.   I'd be very willing to trade in some GPU intensive work for accessing all of those transistors often lugging as evidenced by the low GPU usage, auto down clocked, and low temps all living proof much of my now old GTX Titan is sitting there waiting to be put to work.  Real intensive AA algorithms I would gladly trade for better in-VC performance, as in my favorite OOM machine, PMDG T7.  Could not make it from EGLL to LFPG yesterday without the OOM.   No more add ons of any kind until 64 bit P3D arrives, thank you very much.

A lot of folks have gotten interested in avation buy using Microsoft flight simulator over the years, many of those folks went on to become real pilots, myself included. Once Microsoft pulled out of this arena, LM felt it was in their best interest to maintain a flight platform that was available to as many folks as possible. So, it is a marketing tool only in the sense it is intended to spur interest in aviation, and hopefully generate the pilots of the furture that will fly their aircraft. Also a great introduction to flying for the new Flight Cadets wanting to become pilots, offers them a platform to learn the basics, at a reasonable cost, and can also be developed for other types of training.

What else? Even if they sold 10 million academic licenses, it would still be less than 1% of their annual income as a company. With at best a couple of thousand copies sold, why even do it, I wonder - if not for PR reasons?

Really....A couple thousand copies?? Where on earth do you people come up with this kind of garbage. Have you guys ever looked at LM's web sites and at all the different projects they are involved in and more important how many of those projects relate to using P3D for training. Warning...it will take more than 2 minutes of your time.

The original agreement between Microsoft and Lockheed Martin said

The agreement provides Lockheed Martin with access to the ESP technology portfolio enabling the company to build cost-effective simulation solutions for customized training for its worldwide customers. Lockheed Martin’s software development teams will extend the current capabilities of ESP to enable a whole new suite of innovative ESP-based solutions that will evolve beyond flight training to include ground and civil agency applications.

When did Lockheed Martin change that?

+1 Sam. :LMAO:

I only want a better AA and water for the future.

But I don't need a new version at the moment. I'm very happy with P3D v2.5 at the moment. Very stable and the performance is incredible with my NGX.

I would like a constant stutter free 60 FPS in all views. No z fighting. No SLI graphical anomalies. No OOMs. Accurate AI. And all while I have all the setting maxed out. I don't care how they do it because I know nothing about how they do it, nor do I want too. Couldn't care less if they achieve this with 64bit, or DX12. I would just like to use my current monster PC for the next 4 or 5 years and get a P3D that works flawlessly. I have a feeling that its close but its not there yet. Hopefully by the end of this year :-)

Yes, and I'd like to be the King of England. I don't believe either of us will get our wish.

I would like to win the lottery and retire in a Mansion, with 4 gorgeous maids, a private jet, and a Rolls Royce fleet...

My mistake I though this was flight Sim forum

I would like P3D v3.0 64bit with all my addons installing seamlessly and running max settings pegged at 60fps...oh what a beautiful world it would be...

Intel i7 10700K | Asus Maximus XII Hero | Asus TUF RTX 3090 | 32GB HyperX Fury 3200 DDR4 | 1TB Samsung M.2 (W11) | 2TB Samsung M.2 (MSFS2020) | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm AIO | 43" Samsung Q90B | 27" Asus Monitor

if this wonderful situation ever arrive,s,I bet it would not be a month before the whats wrong with this and when are they going to fix that ,start,s again,P3d for us flight simmers certainly keeps your interest bubbling, think what  FSX might have been if MS had conversed with their customers and taken note of the issue,s raised! and thank you LM for letting me join in with your marketing drive LOL,I think the flight sim community is lucky to have the feedback that we have with LM,it seems that issue,s found equals in most cases issue,s fixed ,maybe LM should explain the benefits of this to some Aircraft add-on developers!

I want, I want, I want.....

I want to help, teach & mentor youth, (as I'm doing at the moment with our 'Young Falcons' project). The youth are the future of flight as well as for our software. We need more of them interested in our hobby.

Do we need ..

60 FPS in all views, 64bit, monster PC's, DX12, etc? Of course not..

We need more immersion! We need software that runs on 'normal' PC's so that everyone can run the software on basic PC's. We need to show that this hobby of ours does not have to rip our wallets for all to enjoy.
