VAS as always been a memory management problem, not a 32bit problem.

I was messing around with the X-Plane trial this past weekend (not sure why, exactly) with a keen eye on VAS. Sure enough, I rarely saw it move above 4gb. A few times, sure, but not often. So, by using one other example, I think it's a great stride to make sure that P3D is tip-top in terms of VAS management before just plowing into the 64-bit realm.

All of that to say that I agree with you.

Another common complaint that people have is micro stutters.  I luckily don't have that issue either, because it can really be an immersion breaker, from past experience with FSX.  Someone asked on the LM forum if this version has done anything to correct that issue, so far no answer from anyone. I bet quite a few people would like to see that issue solved.

But that's not a fair comparison, unless you managed to install a plethora of add ons in the trial?

My VAS uage in xplane upon start up, sitting in the airport is hovering around 6 - 6.5GB but I have a TON of add ons, including high res photo scenery, payware airport/aircraft, all settings maxed out as well as using Ultra HD mesh.

Pracines, I agree with you on the nav data. The big issue for me is that when you use a service like PilotEdge (a featured content provider on the P3D page no less) GPS approach data is ancient...worthless using the default GPS when you are given and expected to fly the approach using current charts. While some of the nav data can be updated via that web site, the stuff tied to the airport bgl isn't. So it's 3rd party updatable GPS if you want that functionality.

A lot of PE users use X-plane. It has a native GPS that is updateable via navigraph or navdata pro. Addon developers are starting to tap into this database so that you don't have to install nav updates per aircraft.

Glad to hear the new release has arrived, I am going to wait before I buy to see what actually changed and how the installers are effected. So yes, I will thank all you day one buyers in advance, please keep us upto date as to what works out of the box and what doesn't.

The big question we all want to know is the performace issue. and how much better is VAS management.  Everything else is Candy... :-)

Very good, i like it.     Is that the color its going to be all the time or just because you were in Avatar Mode.  I like it anyway

VAS as always been a memory management problem, not a 32bit problem. With this release, I rest my case.

Nah, that's not true...

Well it's partially true...

The 32bit issues makes it so that if you do have bad memory management you're screwed... If you had 64bit this would not matter at all...

With good memory management like you say, you would not have problems either *in most cases*.

That being said, even if you had the best memory management,,you simply cannot pile more addons than that hard 4gb limit, no matter how good you manage...

The black comedy of mine is that I bought GTX 960 2gb to prepare a migration to Prepar3d v3.0, and now I see that 4gb is recommended, oh well. And I bet that my new card will perform much better than GTX 560 1gb, which performed, to be honest, pretty solid on medium details.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

How do your FPS compare between X Plane and P3D with approximately the same amount of add ons?

Yes, it is always this color.

Here's a couple random screenshots I've taken during my time in the beta that I feel really show how beautiful this sim can be: http://imgur.com/a/N5fDm

It's about the same in general but in areas with heavy scenery, for eg in the San Francisco area, I get better frame rates with X-Plane, not by a lot though, probably about 5 - 10 fps avg, I get close to 30 FPS in X-Plane and low 20s in P3D but this is also with sliders in P3D turned down and one or more payware airport disabled (depending on the aircraft I fly), otherwise I will OOM in a few mins.

While I do prefer the visuals, the quality add ons that's available for P3D, it's definitely nice in X-Plane being able to do a long haul flight, with a payware 777, starting location and destination are payware airports + scenery, flying over high res photo scenery, from Europe to New York, without going OOM, or having to save flight a couple of times, turning down sliders, etc.

Ok,  very good, thank you.     Love the second one down.    The avatar looks so good,  great little addition i would say

Lol - Look at this - We can Walk around.  Better than Bob I guess

Are you suggesting that in the avatar mode I can walk through an airport scenery, go through immigration, meet and brief my multi-player crew staff members, have a briefing meeting with first officer and second officer, perform walk around and walk into the captain's seat of my 777 aircraft ????

That would be awesome :)

Very nice. Thanks for posting these. It's much appreciated. I am kind of surprised we haven't seen more screen shots from the beta team.

Cheers, Craig.
