Haha..its like kids getting candy for free

I think that if you threw a bag of candy into this pile of excited flightsimmers, non of the kids would even think of standing at the side, waiting for maybe some piece of candy rolling their way :P

Cheers!

I just took my first flight in V3 and got an OOM!

Hahaha, just kidding :-0

First impression.

I set every setting to max and loaded the default scenario.

It loaded to 100% much quicker than V2.

as usual there where black textures for a while

until the shaders where built.

I then restarted with my maxed out setting

and it seemed to load quicker again and this

time no shader building.

There are speed trees at the default scenario location

and they look cool.

Took off and flew a circuit.

I think there are flight dynamics improvement!

It felt more like flying a real aircraft!

TrackIR didn't work so I need to work on that first.

VC frames where up to 35.

down to about 27 on approuch.

External view FPS 40 plus.

That is with everything maxed out!

My first impression is that we have a winner :-)

i7 4770k Core 0 up at 100% other 3 cores up around 50 to 60% on average

2 x GTX 780 both up at 100%

Got it loaded, installed without a hitch.  There are definitely new Speed Trees beside the default runway, looks really cool!

How does the FPS compare to what you had with 2.5?

I read that Simconnect isn't installed automatically anymore with v3 and TrackIR needs that! I am currently installing v3 so I can't check it yet but you should find the Simconnect files hidden in some folder somewhere in the v3 folder. You probably only need to install Simconnect SP2 to get TrackIR working.

BTW The site was slow to get on but I downloaded v3 in 11 minutes. Good enough for me.

That's what I want to know simply because these fps figures in v3 seems very low to me comparing to FSX max settings. Sorry, but 100+ fps in DX10 maxed FSX with cockpit shadows are the reference for me.  :Tounge:

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

No problems connecting from Belgium - some 10 mins left :-)

Hey SD,

What provider are you at? Telenet download speed is currently at 2,5MB/sec sometimes I manage to peak at 3,5MB/sec.

24% in the download and still 54 minutes to go. Guess I'll do some WoW in the meantime :)

Look forward to seeing comparisons between V3 and V2.5 from someone that does not have a pc with 2 gfx cards running like a nuclear power station . Unfortunately my internet is so slow it would be an overnight job to download

That is why I am curious since FPS is usually at the very top of any discussion on a new sim, and yet I have only seen one mention of a comparison between 2.5 and 3, and that person said FPS was about the same.

+1

I have a very modest machine, i5-4570 with a 4GB gtx770. I'll have to take more time to do an apples to apples comparison with V2.5, but I was able to max in-game graphics options, scenery objects, traffic, cloud shadows (medium quality) over the Los Angeles area with the "building storms" weather scenario and average FPS in the upper 20s lower 30s. That would have been single digits in v2.5. I've never been able to turn on vehicle traffic without tanking performance..

And, yes AI lights are now very visible even in daylight inside of 3 miles!

I'm with Proximus, located on the eastern outskirts of Brussels. Took about 20 mins in total.

Pete D. has a new (ish) FSUIPC 4.945a, but there have been a couple of P3D V3 builds since he made that build so he's a couple of builds behind ... when he returns from (you guessed it) vacation, I'm sure he'll update.

Cheers, Rob.

Just my 2 cents: I think we need some comparison of v2.5 vs v3 with the same addons installed: while it is unfair to compare P3D with FSX with "all maxed out", when P3D has so many more features, it is equally misleading to compare a vanilla v3 with an overburdened (addons-wise) v2.5.

Anyway, I really hope it turns out well!

Subtle ... haha ... FYI, I do most of my V3 testing on my more modest (what I consider mid-tier) PC that's running a much older CPU (3960X) and a single 970GTX.

Pending on your hardware and what's you PC bottleneck, you should see a good improvement in FPS.  SLI artifacts are now fixed, but be aware that Water = Ultra with an SLI combination "may" cause some performance issues ... if you are seeing performance issues with SLI and Water = Ultra, then set Water = High as that will recover any FPS issues ... again this is for SLI only, single GPUs are fine.

Cheers, Rob.

Sorry to hear about your internet!

I have a GTX 970 and run an i7 4790k 4.0-4.4. On my last flight in the SFO bay area I always got around 40+ with the Lionheart LJ24 and KSFOHD installed. Lows at 37, max at 57.Thats with all max except water and shadows.

Everithing runs butter smooth, much more fluid than before.

I hope PMDG comes out wit their installers soon, will be interesting to see..
