Unfortunately the cars still don´t move in replay - you would have to get a bit creative, here.

For example, you can record "live" with FRAPS, or any other capture software. You can let the plane fly on autopilot, while you record the "wing view" (what on earth is the fascination with that? This is not a "passenger simulator"!). You can also record sound while in live-view, and then mate that sound to your "replay view" if you have video editing software.

Good luck, Jan

Well Jan, you as a pilot will probably not understand the fascination we mortals have with it   For passengers, the wing-view is the view they see everytime they sit there as a passenger, its the view that you can relate to and even check scenery for plausability. Most people have seen the approach on their home airport a few times through the window, so watching it in a sim is sort of fact checking and you can get enjoyment when you notice those deja vu moments during the approach for instance.

Ironically this explains the whole wingflex importance for alot of people. It's what people see when they look out of the window, its what they notice during taxing on a bumpy taxiway, during takoff or approach through clouds. So they wanna see it in their sim   You, as a pilot, sit thousands of hours in the flightdeck and would probably get more annoyed by wrong working windshield wipers :Tounge:

Oh, you bet! Nothing gets me as mad as when they don´t get the wipers right! My number one pet-peeve with most add-ons. It´s so simple, take a really close look at that screw that is holding the wipers in place. Count the grooves! It can´t be that hard? Get some hi-fi equipment and record the sound! I am definitely not buying it, if they don´t get the wipers right!

Seriously, I understand. Wrote the same thing in the Aerosoft forum, people want the parking lot by the terminal, the check-in counters, the backrest of the seat in front (with that little pouch to forget your passport, important medication, onward flight ticket and mobile phone in)  and the view out the window. And us idiots have been fiddling with getting the dip in hydraulic pressure as you raise the landing gear right. :fool:

All is well, we will try to please everyone (eventually)...

Maybe in other parts of the world they have different offers ;-) I can imagine in India etc that the prices are lower as the disposable income is much lower (in general)

Ha !! This sounds like myself :Big Grin:. I asked this question some years ago in a german flightsim forum (for those who understand German). The answers were like ...

Certainly it was clear to me (and to Jan as well, I assume ) what the reasons for the wingview are. But ... seriously ... the real wingview is much more interesting (incredible fps and details without OOM etc.). At least myself has bought a flightsim to be able to do what I can't in real life, namely sitting in the cockpit of a plane which I can't fly in real life due to several reasons (money, pilots license, ...).

But of course I accept everyone else's reason for using the wingview ... we have freedom of speech and flightsim views ...

My sceneries (excerpt): LPMA Madeira (XPFR), LGSR Santorini, LRBV Brasov, the city of Fürth (Germany), several libraries, ...

I have seen some simulation videos, in which the wing view detail is so good, that it's quite fascinating.  This includes weather, the airport environment, wing structure, scenery, and sounds.  I do enjoy watching simulated airliner wings, that have very detailed flight surfaces, that operate correctly.

Same goes for landing gear.

Petty.

I want to be able to SMELL the jet fuel when I'm flying a sim!!  Otherwise, I'm not buying it.

On a similar and more truthful note, we had a small handful of complaints, in a public forum, from people who complained there were little to no scratches on the windows of the Saab.  Jim replied... "The fact you can't feel wind on your face should tell you there's glass there".

I did chuckle.

It's around 9 USD which is around 594 INR and that is quite cheap. But the dollar conversion is very expensive for us Indians.

I always try to put myself into the mindset that the famous book "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" employs when they try to explain why so many women "nag" - they really just want to get their lazy husbands off their lazy **** so they can better themselves and improve!

So in conclusion, the nagging comes from the fact that the user really loves the product (and the developers!  :Rose: ) and wants it to get even better!

I nagged Thomas (who's a veteran X-plane movie maker and makes awesome X-plane movies on YouTube) about how he gets his cars to move in replays.. here's the reply he gave:

Thomas Rasmussen
+Vinod Kumar It can be a bit tricky - Sometimes I can rewind to where I want my replay to start, but often I need move to where I want my replay to start and then make changes to the number of objects, trees or whatever, that makes the scenery load again!

maybe you guys can give this a try and report back if it works!

(I'm flightsim-less for about a week.. babysitting duty..  )

Cheers,

Vinod.

The cars stop moving when you interrupt the replay while scrolling back and forth. If you want to make a recording with the cars moving, put the replay bar in the position where you want to start the recording, then disable car traffic exit the menu and then put the car traffic back in.

Excellent, I will try that! Thanks for the tip!

Why are most white aircraft in XPlane grey ??

This is a question I have asked as well, but never got a response to....maybe no-one knows why.... It seems that much of the XPX world is gray as default, unless other colors are added. Maybe something to do with Open GL?

Bruce.

ASEL, Instrument.

KBJC, Colorado.

The only time I've noticed this is when the aircraft is in a shadow of a cloud or in sunrise or sunset times of the day, but then again, I use MaxxFX to tweak the colors, so that may be one of the reasons, I don't see this.
