This has been brought up before, but Steam is just a distributor. DCS and IL-2 BOS are considered pretty complex and hi fidelity flight simulators, not aimed at the "casual" gamer (whatever that means), and yet they're distributed and sold on Steam too.

Looks like the only one here with some strange fantasy that P3D is the only complex and hi-fidelity flight simulator is you.   It's "just" an evolution of FSX, just like DTG flight simulator will be.

And X-Plane 10 Murmur, X-Plane 10 too is on Steam :-)

And FSX:SE :-) where I used my PMDGs, so, as you point out, there hasn't got to be any sort of qualification based on the distribution platform...

As you know I am primarily concerned with the flight dynamics, aircraft systems and weather modeling, and they should be plausibly represented for any user willing to play, for instance, DTGs' Flight School ( I am going to play it for sure! ). Being based in FSX, but updated with some new stuff ( just as MS FLIGHT was ) is a great sign of potential success for me !

The Maule and the RV-6 in MS FLIGHT, as well as the "Cub" were very well done. Even the Stearman was very acceptable...

I only wish they can address those long time evident BUGS like:

- The leaning BUG, where leaning above 3000' cause the FF to initially lower....

- Their C/S prop modeling

- The ground friction ( ground physics as a whole ) - they just have to make it as good as it is in MS FLIGHT!

No student should think that IRL leaning an engine will cause the fuel flow to rise, under ANY circumstance....

Should they add turboprop models to their hangar, most probably only when they release the DTG Flight Simulator, attention should be put into the modeling of such engines, which is also completely bugged in MSFS / P3D....

And... if they could update their rotary wing flight dynamics, consulting for instance with the maker of the DODOSIM Bell 206, that would also be a great step forward, just in case they're willing to add helicopters to the flight simulator....

Weather effects in as far as winds and turbulence are concerned were OK to me in MS FLIGHT. Adding mountain effects, would be great ( done in ASN, CumulusX! and other freeware add-ons for FSX / P3D )...

I would have thought this was a mandatory requirement in a flight simulator....

And gliders!!!! How great it would be to one day have an add-on for a soaring school....

I still think that any pilot should start his instruction with a glider pilot license. You can't imagine how many accidents would be avoided if pilot's started from that sound and so important base...

Having a good reproduction of a glider in a flight simulator, as well as of the weather factors that contribute to make soaring a true thrill would be great to have in a civil flight simulator :-)

Honestly, I hope it breaks compatibility with everything. If it's a new sim, then please make it a NEW sim. I understand everyone invested a lot of money in scenery and add-ons, I am no exception. but adding backward compatibility will often times contain legacy code and decide if they should allow current 3rd party software and sacrifice what it takes to make something spectacular.

If it's made right the first time, I'm hoping I won't have to buy scenery in the first place, with the exception of perhaps some airports and of course aircraft.

An example for this would be the use the FMS. It would be nice to force 3rd party aircraft makers to standardize flighplan loaders. I have to use 4 different flight planners to load into the FMS. ProATC/X for PMDG, Quality Wings. There is nothing for Majestic except the internet.

It would be nice to create a flightplan in the SIM and it loads into the FMS of whatever aircraft I have, PMDG, Airbus, etc ... whatever.

My wish? Marry X-Plane (Graphics) with FSX base programming (Updated of course). That would be a hellova sim.

A fresh start would be great.....but a modified version of FSX code needs to show significant improvements (in all departments) if current FSX and P3D users are to be convinced that it is worth investing in right from the start.

In fact there is, sort of. Not exactly a brand label, but a piece of software a guy created to import FSC-created FPs into the MJC8 Q400's FMS, And works a treat too.

Agreed. I just hope Dovetail is look at these posts. It's hard to please everyone and I realize that. I just hope that it's Re-Done from the ground up keeping in whatever agreement was made with MS and just build a flightsim that's 100% GPU, and the latest DirectX API's. Everything else would be gravy.

By the way, rather than just "The uninstaller" for your new name, I think it should be something like "Jcom the uninstaller"

It sounds good, sort of flashy and edgy, like "Ragnarok the barbarian"  :Tounge:

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I think we should all start using jose as a verb for uninstall, as in; "I totally josed my Xplane install last night". It sounds like a more flamboyant way of saying 'hose' anyway, so it kind of fits.

The point is another piece of software. I currently have to have 2 pay ware and 2 freeware flight planners to get flight plans into the FMS of my various paid aircraft. This is what I mean by having standardization with 3rd party vendors. * Can't we all just get along *

It won't be that, I bet. But I agree that this would be the right way to move forward.
