February 11, 201610 yr bye bye 32bit P3D v3, nice knowing you but it's time to divorce   Don't be so quick, going 64 bit is going to break compatibility with most addons, and will take 3rd party devs time to catch up. Also depends on how open DTG will be to 3rd party developers, especially those non Steam developers, we mostly use. Will they produce a SDK? February 11, 201610 yr They want simulations that are realistic but also accessible. They want to be led to a place where the focus can be on reaching great levels of accomplishment, rather than struggling to get to grips with the operational aspects. And that’s precisely what Flight School will deliver.” This is from the PC Pilot press release. That to me does not sound like a fully featured flight sim but I guess we will find out soon. February 11, 201610 yr 64-bit is a must considering the complexity of so many of the great add-ons out there. And as someone already commented, developers would need to make significant updates to their products to catch up with a 64-bit platform. I normally use FSX SE, P3Dv3, and XP-10. I only fly the PMDG 737 & 777 packages and have great airport products from FlyTampa, FSDT, FlightBeam, and others that can push VAS to the limit. Every time I fly XP-10, I only wish I could transfer all these add-ons to that platform, given its smoother performance and 64-use. I look forward to seeing how this all evolved. Competition is good! February 11, 201610 yr Thanks for the link. Since this new sim is based off the FSX engine, do you guys think it will support full multi-core usage? In the link it said that the sim will take advantage of modern gpu and cpu's but not much else regarding specs. Nature Boy
February 11, 201610 yr This is from the PC Pilot press release. That to me does not sound like a fully featured flight sim but I guess we will find out soon. That's because it isn't. "Flight School" will be a standalone sim they will release in April to teach newcomers how to sim. Later, they will release Dovetail Games FS, which will be their full-fledged sim. That was right there in the PC Pilot press release.
February 11, 201610 yr P3D and I divorced at v3. I could never get it to run smoothly when clouds were present, which never sat well with me since I'm a bit of cloud nut. So I look forward to whatever is next. A return to a consumer-oriented simulation is a step in the right direction. Daniel Moser

I don't have P3D, but I have read that others having problems with P3D V3.x running smoothly corrected them by setting dynamic reflections from Ultra to Medium. Just playing Devil's advocate, for devs that support this platform, this is going to really complicate matters for them. Not only will they have to support 32 bit FSX, FSX-SE, and P3D, now they will also have to support a 64bit version as well. It's not going to be easy for them, at least in the short term. Yeah, I looked into this but it wasn't dynamic reflections. I've had this problem since v2. Daniel Moser
