Realair Legacy Release

Featured Replies

Hi Jeroen, unfortunately, the European charts are not (yet) included in the GTN trainer. But it is nevertheless a great addon for flying in any part of the world. And for Europe the airport safe taxi charts are included! Puts many of your aircraft addons on  a new, more exciting level! For the Legacy alone it's worth the investment (even if you have the RXP530 and/or 430 already and run FSX)!

Garmin worldwide charts are available and do work with the GTN, they are just crazy expensive. You need to find a real world pilot that is also a flight simmer. Those rw GTN owners get a one-time update to all the worldwide charts. The files are huge but very workable.

Great Job on the Legacy! I was wondering if there is any advantage to using the built in controls of Prepar3d for things like axis settings instead of FSUIPC. I ask because Devs like you and A2A seem to use a lot of smoke and mirrors and new techniques to take advantage of LM's advances. Could you share some thoughts and advice on this subject?

Thanks

Hmmmm, interesting... I do also wonder though how many RNAV or LPV approaches for Norway are available in the 2104 database that comes with the Flight1 unit.

Here's what I use lights for and when (USA)

Beacon or strobe when starting engine (at night I'd add NAV lights)- beacon only if you have both strobe/beacon

Taxi light when moving on the ground

When you take the runway turn on landing light and strobes

Thanks again! Here is a link (valid for a week) to a pdf of my personal 'checklist'. If some of you might want to look at it and tell me if it's okay, feel free to do so! (Or just download and use it. ). It is based on the checklist that comes with the RealAir Legacy and I have removed a few things you simply don't have to (or can't) do and I added some appropriate information I found elsewhere in the documentation (like take off flap settings etc.) I made sure everything fitted on one side of an A4 which makes it easy to print and keep nearby while flying or load on an iPad.

I don't know how to get a list of approaches from the GTN but I see LNAV+V approaches for the major airports. I will look up some of your favorites and see what is in the update that I have.

I have my GTN set for Norway. Send me a list of your Norway airports and I will see which LPV are active. I am flying the ENGM RNAV+V 01L now.

Hi Sam,

I personally use the controls within the sim (both FSX and P3d). That's nothing against FSUIPC or other software but it works for me. One thing to note is that the sensitivity sliders in the sim are really a delay mechanism to compensate for the very short throw of a typical joystick. I use about a third sensitivity and that stops jerky response from the tiny two and a bit inches or so movement in the stick. I can't really discuss much else!

So that Floro, Farris, etc. list already in there...? Those are the main ones indeed. I will see tonight (or tomorrow) if I can find some smaller airports that I like to fly too and which don't have ILS: would be nice if I could use GPS approaches for those. Thanks in advance! That GTN 750 is looking pretty good!

EDIT

From the top of my head: for instance Fagernes, Molde, Kirkenes, Geilo, Kjeller, Lillestrøm, Arendel. Those are all slightly smaller ones. Or Hammerfest and Hamar, which really are quite small. You don't have to check them all but I wonder if some of those have GPS approaches! As said I am mainly interested in airports that don't have an ILS!

No Joy. None of the smaller ones have any approaches in the GTN database. That is usually the case anyway, not many non-ILS airports will have LPVs. Geilo and Hallingdal Valley brings back old memories, great ski resort there. My son won the overall Norway downhill Championship there one year.

Just buy it and return it if its not what you expected. Cant go wrong with the 30 day refund policy. You wont need it though.........

I just bit the bullet and got the P3D version after ditching FSX completely. Feels a bit odd having to purchase the GTN twice, but oh well, its that good.

Ok, thanks for checking!

There's a few things I'd change on that checklist - when I get to my PC I'll write them down here

Thanks! Looking forward to your comments!

First thing I will change myself is the alternator switch: the supplied checklist says to turn this on after start but the manual says you should only use alternate air if it is absolutely necessary (blocked air filter).

Haven't had a chance to look at your checklist, currently at work, but the "alternator" switch is different that the "alternate air" source... the alternator switch is beside the battery master switch and keeps everything charged power wise...

Alternate air is as you describe and only used when there is a problem with the static air system.

At least that's how it is in the real plane, not sure what original checklist you were using.

Great plane!

Hi Rob

For the benefit of all of us could you explain how to set two throttle sliders for throttle and RPM please?

Thanks
