Hi Rick,

Delighted to see you have found a solution. I'm sure we will all be very happy to applaud Hans, while acknowledging his genius, once we are told how he managed to fix it. We can all learn from this experience.....but we need closure before we can finally move on..lol

I wish I could tell you all in words what he did. He just took over in Team Viewer and just as when we were once kids at a Magic Show trying to follow the 'sleight-of-hand', so it was watching this 'n that happening across my screen. Mind you, he did have many frustrating moments and I sincerely thought, I'm left with the Gfx card removal, etc, etc. But he persevered and got there in the end. I now have the very latest Nvidia 364.72 driver installed. Just about to do my first flight after it.

Gents, no need to give me any accolades. I just tried everything that came to my mind including deleting the driverstore filerepository entries of nvidia, using DDU a couple of times in safe mode, executing the setup.exe with the pstools command and finally the last reboot must have done the magic. I thought it had failed and took care of a venison in the oven and only noticed now that it had worked. I believe that this was a major permissions problem. I recommend reading this Nvidia post, http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3581/~/driver-installation-failed, this would have been my next approach and actually one should start with the log. Happy flying Rick, I hope it all works flawlessly now.

Glad you explained it all because I could barely keep track of where you flitted in and out. Thanks, once again.

Hi Rick,

As I am the guy who started the thread (not a good idea), I am especially glad that everything is OK now.

So it was more a (bad) experience for you than a (good) experience for me !

Yesterday I switched 3 times between 364.12 and 361.43 on two different PC without a problem, but I am using Windows 7.

Hi Claude

And only for Hans, I came within a millimetre of ditching Win 10 Pro for my previous Win 7 Pro.

Like that old saying goes......................'All's well that ends well'

So in conclusion do you think 364.72 is worth the upgrade or is it still better to stick with 361.43?

Claude, most glad you started this thread...for the last 3 or 4 driver sets...I developed a bad pause stutter in FSX.  Just tried this latest on your recommendations...and back to smooth-butter animation.  So...each person's mileage will vary. Mine was for the good...a keeper set of drivers. Thanks for posting!

SLI with 2x GTX 980Ti here.

Not a keeper for me, driver v362.00 gives me better results.

BTW, SLI drastically changed my sim experience.

For the first time in my (long...) FS "career" I get a crisp, smooth and stable image no matter the clouds coverage, with an average of 25-30 fps.

I have read most of the posts in this thread and it seems that I may be the only one using 364.51.

Is there an issue with the driver I am using?

It works great in my system 980ti, 5630.....

If it works great for you, then don't lose any sleep over it. Whatever your system likes, that is the best one.

Just carried out a reinstall of P3D ver 3.23., so decided to do a quick test of drivers 361.43 and 364.72.

P3D in default state, no add-ons, FSUIPC4 or tweaks. Internet security turned off and NCP exited. HT on.

Using the A36 Bonanza out of Seattle flew over docks and then turned onto 355 bearing.

Frame rates for both were 29.9-30.1 and no stutters with either drivers.

Continuing with driver 364.72, installed ASN ver 5921. still smooth fps 29.7 -30 ( ASN default settings)

I hate to add insult to injury, but I just read this:

http://wccftech.com/nvidias-latest-game-ready-driver-allegedly-killing-gpus-plagued-issues/

Lots of food for thought.  For me personally, I've been solid with the 361 drivers and definitely WON'T be updating any time soon now.
