May 22, 201610 yr Every time I turn on my computer (Windows 7 Profession version), t wants me to upgrade to Windows 10. The last time it was trying it automatically, and I just shut off the computer in the process. Is there any way to dis-able the Windows 10 updates??? I say a program Never10 (but I don't know who the heck they are) Paul Gugliotta

May 22, 201610 yr I have experienced exactly the same issue as paulyg123. For the past 12-18 months I have resisted all attempts by Windows 10 pop-ups to offer me free downloads and convert my Windows 7 set up where I have my MSFS/PMDG flight simulator set up. Recently it has even told me that Windows 10 is ready to set up on my computer and arranged a date for download - I have resisted that. However, last week I got an ultimatum that Windows 10 would download with a countdown in 15 minutes. I thought that I had disabled this but No! Windows 10 downloaded onto my computer and completely screwed up my flight simulator and other apps I had on it. It has caused me no amount of grief and taken me virtually all of this weekend to try and sort out. I have partly sorted some of my flight simulator aircraft (PMDG MD11, 747-400/8i, 777-200/300ER) but I am still WITHOUT SOUND on my system and have tickets in with PMDG Support for assistance. I am finding new problems virtually as I go along, despite uninstalling and reinstalling some of my aircraft. Unless you are extremely lucky with a Windows 10 download, as some seem to be on this thread, - or you are a computer nerd with a vast amount of time to invest reconfiguring your system, my advice would be to AVOID WINDOWS 10 AT ALL COSTS!!! IT HASN'T WORKED FOR ME. Bernard Walford
May 22, 201610 yr I usually get the notification to update to Windows 10. I simply X out of the notice. This time I was in a rush and may have hit something to accept it. My computer said starting to config files. And at 3% I hit the power switch. The system rebooted fine and I still have Windows 7, but darn, I wonder if I can disable the windows update feature. May 23, 201610 yr Hi - there's a little utility called GWX Control Panel that allows you to block and/or remove Win10 updates, and prevent MS from ramming it down your throat. It's worked great for me on my two FS systems (Win7 home and Win7 pro). When you install it and run it, make sure you select it to run in monitor mode (checkboxes/button-bars to select options). MS will still try to invade your system, but when it happens, the blue-square with the white 10 in it on the task bar notification area flashes with a red circle and a white exclamation point - just open it up and set everything back to "Enable" (reverse logic - if the button says Disable, it's enabled to allow W10 updates....think I got that right....I'm currently on the other side of the country from my systems). July 21, 20169 yr My Win 7 Flight Sim machine keeps asking for the Win 10 upgrade. It would seem from reading many posts, if I were to take up the free offer for Win 10: I need to do a clean install, rather than an upgrade? How does this happen, as my work machine simply upgraded and I saw no 'offer' for a clean upgrade version? Does this also mean I will no longer be able to use the PMDG MD11 and 747v1 if I only have Win 10? Do you think PMDG and other developers will provide future aircraft which will run on Win 7 and Win 10...or...sort of like the days when XP was everything and time to let go and move on! Geoff Bryce
July 22, 20169 yr I updated my system from 7 to 10 about a week ago. Took a while to get things running but everything I had working before runs like a charm. FSX Steam, EZCA, PMDG NGX & 777, RAAS, REX + Soft Clouds, ASN, VAFS5, Air Traffic Manager and WoAI. If you find a roadblock just google. Every thing you need to get it up and running was already described by some clever lad. Zero issues for me. Pawel Grochowski

July 22, 20169 yr You guys are doing it wrong. Windows Vista is the answer you're looking for. Windows ME for older compatibility. So, with a pretty decent rig like you have, you use Windows ME or Vista !!!. Not sure if the 2+ days of work to uninstall 7 plus all other software and change windows to 10, reload FSX, all other software then lose my MD11 and 747v1 for no real gain. Maybe if I win lotto and go the P3D way, worth the hassle. Geoff Bryce
July 22, 20169 yr I have a laptop that came with 10 and it works fine. I bought a new hard drive and a copy of 10 for my flight sim computer and it works fine. I did the free upgrade on my daily use desktop computer and had some issues. It was a pretty new build for me so I went back to 7 on that computer with a reformat and fresh install. Based on my experience I would recommend a full clean install of Windows 10 and not do the upgrade. I did not see the option to do a clean full install when I did the upgrade to Windows 10 but maybe I just missed it. Tom Landry
