[24MAY16] PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster for X-Plane Update and Release Info!

Featured Replies

So the question for me is, do I buy it for X-Plane or wait for the P3D version... I'm not buying both so which ever one I go for I'm stuck with it! I use P3D more than X-Plane, although I am starting to use X-Plane more due to a certain 737 Classic that was released recently!... Decisions, Decisions! :fool:

The DC-6 does not require any plug ins. It's all in-house development.

  • I knew that was a clue!!

Due to Patent Trolling...completely different (skip to 1:35):     Yes, that's John Oliver mocking the ridiculous state of affairs of patent abuse, using the claim on X-Plane as the example.

I have a question regarding the "Realistic Start Enabled" option.

In one of Kyle's interesting videos I noticed that the engine start procedure is quite simplified. If you want to start the engine of a real DC-6 you have to close the Safety and Starter switch, use the Primer and finally press the Ignition Boost switch. In the video this procedure was a one mouse-click operation. Meaning that you are not even able to manually prime the engine.

So I was wondering if that has changed in the final version

I'm really looking forward to this wonderful aircraft!

Greetings
Tim

How could it? You only have one mouse. You'd need to be able to simultaneously work 4 buttons for a realistic option.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It's actually not so complicated. Most developers including A2A do it that way:

1) Press the Starter and Safety switch. Both switches then remain in the pressed position.
2) Use the Primer
3) Finally press the Boost switch to start the engine.

That's a very realistic procedure and there is absolutely no problem to use it with only one mouse

I just think it is a little bit of a let down to have such a simplified engine start procedure in an otherwise highly realistic aircraft.

Greetings
Tim

2! Since it will require at least one week of study.

I was just reading the updated product page of the "6" and noticed a small typo in the 6th paragraph. It should read "The DC-6 took to the air for the first time on February 15th, 1946" rather than "The DC-6 took to the air for the first time on February 15th, 1956"

OK OK the date has finally been set. I cleared out all the rubbish and pushed out the old 747 to make room for this beautiful bird. Sent the wife to retrieve the flight manuals.......

Praying PMDG brings MD-11 to P3D v4 (7 years and counting) Will be a PMDG customer for life if this happens!

I am happy PMDG released the requirements, but I am wondering if there will be a Linux version?

Hi there !

The result of your work is just stunning as usual.

But I will not go for it, because it's far too complex for me and I don't like too much this sort of heavy propeller's planes.

Anyway, congratulation for your gigantic work. You've pushed the limits so far in the small world of X-Plane.

ditto. even if we have to wait a little while, that would be great!

It's not officially supported but I wonder how well it would work. Maybe someone who was a double install can shed some light.

On the PMDG Store, the Mac and Windows versions appear to be separate purchases. Does this mean:

- each version will have a platform-specific installer?

- each version will only contain platform-specific X-Plane plugins?

- there are unavoidable licensing restrictions that made having a cross-platform version "legally" impossible?

- the separate versions are simply a deliberate business decision from PMDG?

- a combination of the above?

Also, out of curiosity, will the plane rely entirely on in-house code and plugins, or will it make partial use of third-party plugins like e.g. SASL, DreamEngine etc. for some of its features?

Finally, the most important question (for longtime PMDG customers): does PMDG typically release at a given time (i.e. time T on release day in a specific timezone), or is it usually random?

All beta testing was done with just XPlane and the DC-6.  In fact I have no idea what you are talking about LOL.
