June 12, 20169 yr I don't disagree with you overall. I think it's an alright-looking VC for a 2008 product... when people were still migrating from FS9 and 2D panels were still all the rage. I think the VC compares very favorably to most of what was on the market at the time. However, like you say, there's all kinds of little things that make you go huh? in that cockpit. The VC looked just as wrong in 2008. The problems with it relate to their own graphic design. Out of curiosity, is that on Win 10? I haven't had FS9 installed since I upgraded to 10 and it looks like some people have trouble getting it to run. I was thinking about loading it up again to play with some of my old freeware stuff. No, I use Win 7. FS9 can't be run from the CD-ROM in Win 10 because the legacy CD validation service was removed for security reasons. The same problem now exists on Win 7 after that service was disabled by a security update. You can manually enable the service in Win 7.
June 13, 20169 yr Isn't it really about what kind of proprietary information PMDG can obtain from the manufacturer that drives what airplane they can develop? Certainly, systems information on the 757/767 would be more easily obtainable than say the Dreamliner? Also, the newer 767 basically shares a cheaper version of the 777 glass cockpit that they have already modeled, and the double type rating means double sales for PMDG without necessarily double development time. It would be an easy market win after foraying into the unknown and almost certainly unprofitable X Plane 10/piston airliner market (this had to be an experiment/side project more than a long term investment). With great reverence to Level-D, it's time for an updated product in the mid-sized wide body market. I would even support an A330 (yes, I said it). I would also absolutely love a 757 properly modeled. It's a terrific jet that will be flying cargo for a long, long time. PS I can safely say that I would buy any new PMDG project modeled in P3D v.3 but I'm not nearly as flexible in changing platforms over one aircraft. There are just too many X factors in a platform change. Jimmy Helton
June 13, 20169 yr The 757 and 767 share a common type rating but the systems have a lot of differences, some significant. Even though the panels are similar the flightdeck geometry is different so the VC would have to be different too. Not much shared really in simulation terms.
June 14, 20169 yr I too like many others here have many hours in the LevelD 767 and fully supported them.....back in the day. I felt it was very noble that PMDG did not infringe on their sales market for the 767 as they stated was a significant reason for not developing one....back in the day. To PMDG: Is this non-competitive agreement between you and the folks at LevelD still in effect, and will remain so until eternity? Also, do you feel (or know) that LevelD is secretly developing and is close to releasing a completely up-to-date version of their 767....released right after the 757 currently in development? If you can answer yes to either question above, then you can lock this thread and all subsequent posts about PMDG making a 767, as you have definitively answered the question, for eternity. I sincerely hope that reason 2 above is the "real" behind-the-scenes reason you don't consider the 767, as I wish LevelD all the success it deserves for driving the hobby, back in the day, but I also live in the real world, and don't believe that a new 767 from them is ever coming.........or is it? Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
June 14, 20169 yr Well considering the airline RSR used to work for was the launch customer for the 767, I feel that he would love to make one. We didn't really hear much from PMDG at FSCon. I think that they might have a few surprises up their sleeve. I'm sure Robert will update us or at least give us a hint of what's next after the 747 is released. Really the only Boeing/McDonnell Douglas aircraft still in wide use that haven't been given justice yet in P3D are the 757/767, 787 and the MD-80/90. However w/ QualityWings creating a stellar 787 and TFDI creating a super detailed 717 (MD-95) I really feel like the 75/76 may come next. Whatever the case, the next few years will being us a lot I hope. June 14, 20169 yr Commercial Member We didn't really hear much from PMDG at FSCon. Shouldn't have heard anything at FSCon this year, unless I missed something. I was the only one there, but I went to see the first day of stuff and meet up with some of my aviation friends from MIA and MSP. Kyle Rodgers
June 16, 20169 yr ¿What do you think? http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/767-by-pmdg Link doesn't work. Like the picture though. PMDG B727 or B732...... Honestly, I would love anything with a FE panel. I dream about a PMDG 747 Classic. June 19, 20169 yr I would like to see PMDG produce the 737 MAX. If they are on their game, it would be a big seller. In my humble opinion of course! Stephen
