New Rex SkyForce 3D - The ASN Killer?

Featured Replies

Yeah, that would be nice. Especially since HiFi guys have been doing just that since a few days already :P And clearly there is some confusion here since i am not the only one asking for the same clarification :)

I'll wait for some reviews after it comes out. I looks like more of the same honestly.

  • Me too, i gave up on REX and the 14+ installers to bring it up to date, then try and integrate soft clouds and you have to uninstall again and restart because you went to far.....

Will PMDGs radar and FMS wind input work with this?

"Sound Awareness for Severity of Weather

We are now able to sync specialized environment sounds WITHIN a flight. These sound responses, including hail sounds mostly appear within supercell and severe weather conditions. In the event that a tornado warning is in effect, you will hear realistic tornado sirens in the distance, and only while on the ground at the airport."

Sounds amazing.

But also does seem to answer my question, seems it can do all this on METAR data alone. They also state it's compatible with ALL weather engines. So this + AS16 to be the go-to combo?

Oh and, wow.

METAR  alone is kinda subjective to observers and those who report the conditions which may be prone to errors from delays or just merely thier viewpoint on what they see at the airport. May not necessarily be the weather thats happening miles away or thousands of feet up. But then again we cant expect exact conditions within the realms of a simulator.

Screenshots look quite good which much better representation. So nice to see continuous improvements within our hobby even if it means another paid product. No one ever claimed this hobby to be cheap.

Looks nice. I hope everything is scaled and placed as beautifully in P3D. If so, I will buy without hesitation and drop ASN.

The beauty of the package is that it can be used with any weather generator - even FSX's default weather engine

Sold.

The treatment of rain columns in shots 6 and 7 solves my biggest weather gripe with existing weather depictions...

It is not a weather engine, it will work with ASN.

Ahhh, well that is good and bad in my view. ASN+REX was stunning in FSX. Since switching to P3D, I have never regained that sense of "wow." Was hoping for a new weather engine designed to work specifically with REX textures.

Based on my experience I would expect this to look amazing in FSX and decent on P3D.

I've still never really wrapped my head around why cloud formations look so different in P3D (vs FSX) despite using the same plugins. The clouds render smaller and tile more often in my opinion.

I wonder what kind of performance hit we can look forward to… And how well my yearned after GTX 1080 will fair...
