No problems, here running AS16+ASCA on a laptop with Vista

Hi Patrick, I don't have Vista but XP. On the AS16 Requirements page I see "Windows Vista or later". Does it mean that it will not run in XP? Thanks.

  • I agree with you in so much as the price is good value for the new platform; however, people are entitled to view this differently the value is relative to them.

It's in the process.... unfortunately it's a pretty long process this time around (and requires coordination of several systems, resellers and components), but we're getting there.  If I had to guess

Since there will be a free 7 day trial for AS16, everyone can evaluate it on their own system at no risk, and decide if the improvements are worth the price of upgrading.   I've owned every release

I hope the release is this weekend.  Really looking forward to it.

Hi David,

I am using a 40" LG display set to 3840x2160.  The impact on performance when using 4096x4096 textures is always a good test, flying into heavy weather with the default 5 layers of cloud does present a bit of a load on the GPU but it is hardly noticeable.  When scaled back to 2048 (DXT) the sim runs smoothly except when loading terrain and other details not related to weather.

Jose,

Being a dynamic set of cloud models we are now seeing what we have never experienced before in flight simulation.  With AS16 and ASCA running in conjunction with one another users will now experience a truly dynamic weather system.  Users will no longer have to restart their sim to change textures or themes as the programs work together to do that for them automatically.

Watch for a free 7 day trial once the applications are released.

This looks amazing.  Can't wait.  On a side note I just watched the video and at the end it says it's out however I can only see pending links on the purchase page.

Soooo, is this out?

We're in the process of final system checks and release rollout, and pending no serious issues, we hope to release momentarily. Thanks for your patience and your support!

Taking a big chance here, hope it gets released, I don't want to get my knuckles wrapped for this!

I'm looking forward to seeing some user videos to see it all in action.

All these cloud screenshots look the same to me. Can't see any difference between any of the texture sets released over the years either freeware or payware.

I've read the 'blurb' and seen the prices. I've seen that the textures will not be on a free trial - disappointing but understandable.

This creates a dilemma because it is not cheap. The original plan would have been to download free trial of both at 2001z (or whenever).

Now it needs thinking about.

I dislike the Rex textures system so tend to set it once and leave it 6 months

I love ASN but if it's not broke why should I pay so much to upgrade it?

If I purchase ASCA and have it working in ASN I assume I'm going to see similar to my Rex - although I note some textures have been criticised and no doubt you will develop further.

However (assuming I've purchased ASCA) what are the practical key differences I will SEE if I then if I add the trial ASC2016?

What are the top two or three things I should be looking for to make me see the difference (and in my P3D 3.3 case) spend €37 plus VAT?

Thanks.

That's something i'd like to see an answer for as well. It's a heavy price for... exactly what?

Thank you.

I've owned every release in the Active Sky franchise since AS6, and every one has been a substantial improvement on its predecessor, IMO. For me, the upgrade price does not seem excessive. I have paid much more for aircraft and scenery add-ons that I may only use rarely.

Active Sky is different - it is the one utility that I use on EVERY flight, with EVERY aircraft - day and night, summer and winter. Short flights and long hauls, high altitude and low.

something odd about these clouds specially No.5

I think it is mainly VC reflections making it look a bit weird (at least I hope so).

Too high price for what it gives, if compared with the ASN we already have.

Plus nor there's different prices between FSX and P3D, but for many of us who still use both the sims, you are now separating the licenses, forcing us to pay for the product two times.

No, thanks.

I notice there is a upgrade from ASN to AS16 for FSX but not for P3d. Is this correct or the site isn't fully ready?
