A higher price tag is not equal to higher renevue. The relation is not linear FSL!

I'm pretty sure they didn't design their revenue model on the playground while eating peanut butter sandwiches and chasing pokemon

Yeap,  and that doesn't means that they revenue model maximizes the company profit. We are witnesses or complices of a price spiral in the FS addons market fueled by US, UK and DE markets. We, Flightsimmers, will suffer the consecuences when the bubble explodes.

P.D. then I can see two scenarios. First: Hardcore Flightsimmers expelled from our own market. Development groups focused in professional market.  Second: Implosion of the hardcore groups again a  dark period in the flightsim community.

ATM price spiral expelled some markets like CIS Countries.

It's about accessibility. Think of those who do want this aircraft and can't afford it. We are not buying a car here so don't use that analogy. I think by pricing it right, it would be more accessible to others. Not everyone can shell out $100, and please don't say oh but you can spend that much in a night of going out, or buying some coffee machine. Not everyone does that. Some people are more frugal or like to conserve their money, because of their situation. Not everyone can comfortably spend that kind of money on an add-on. I would like to purchase this unfortunately the price isn't right for me. So I'll pass for the time being. And to those who can afford this, enjoy. I'm sure it's worth it.

Right on !

Just building the PC to run this sim right (still barely...), left people with very low budget to go and spend 100$+ for an addon. Pricing it 50 to 60$ would have got them much more customers. their lose...

Then you both are in the wrong hobby. Flight simming has always been expensive, from having to buy a powerful computer to all the addons you need to build on the default engine.

If you are a casual simmer, go enjoy the Aerosoft Airbus series, and you get it for a lot cheaper and many different models. This addon is priced high because it's a full simulation and took years to develop.

Not sure why you are having to make that point. People who want to pay $50 because thats all they can afford or are willing to pay are catered for already with Aerosoft. Much more bang for the buck with the A318/9/20/21.

It's not going to be any different with the PMDG 747 or any other high end product fom now on

Good luck losing money.

Your assumption is that FSL intends to make all of its revenue from hobbiest users like us, which is probably not the case. In addition to home users, for whom the price point will be around $100, I'm pretty sure that FSL will eventually be targeting the professional training market (real world A320 pilots and airlines), who will pay much MUCH more for a version legally certified for training on systems and procedures.

There is a reason why FSL has taken years to develop a simulation that accurately models every system and sub-system found on an actual A320, in both engine variants.

The fact that the new product can be configured to run exclusively with 2D panels, points in that direction too, as CBT systems training in a classroom is usually done exclusively in 2D. This, of course, is a benefit for those hobby users who detest virtual cockpits!

A certified version would have to run on the P3D platform, as FSX cannot legally be used for any type of real-world training.

A similar situation exists with the Aerowinx PSX simulation of the 747-400. Even for hobbiest users, the price point is rather high ($350), but Aerowinx has long-standing relationships with several r/w airlines, (and Boeing itself), who probably pay a far higher price for each and every copy.

Which is exactly what PMDG has been doing, and most probably Majestic too.  But guys, stop with the price.  It's not even like there's no alternative, the Aerosoft bus is not a bad product by any means, and it's very cheap when you catch a sale.  This isn't a Carenado or CS bird, this is a study sim.  The 777 bundle was over $130, the 737 I can't remember, the Q400 Pro was $80ish, I mean, that's the price.

Now THIS is 'Right on!'

if the FSL is as good as they are saying its going to be I think the 100 bucks is justified.  Of which I will make a punt and say it will be.  Andrew and his team has spend 6 years on it, as well as most of them having full time jobs I believe, so good luck to them.  If they have made a superior product through hard work then they deserve the profits.

Alas If its as buggy as the 777 in P3D  and full of memory leaks.then its worth 30 bucks not 100.

What does bother me though, is this whole being a "backer" rubbish companies are doing, I just dont like it,

They shouldnt release it unless it finished and people shouldnt be paying to be beta testers.

Exactly! Nobody is being forced to buy the FSL Airbus, and there is a very good alternative in the Aerosoft product, which may not be 100% accurate systems wise, but is perfectly suited to the great majority of hobby users who want to emulate Airbus operations.

I have the Aerosoft suite, and enjoy it very much, but will definitely purchase the new FSL product once the P3D version comes out.

I am on the same approach! Good to have FSX users as beta testers in the hope that the FSL bus is then more matured for the P3D users

No one is beta testing anything, Pete. We have said many times, that the EA process is to catch any potential and unforeseen issues with the installation and configuration process. The technology that the A320-X is built upon is extremely complex and integrated - and with the vast number of configuration possibilities for FSX/FSX-SE and P3D, this thing needs rolling out carefully.

We will not be asking anyone to report any system logic anomalies with the aircraft - we have several teams in place for that already and any such findings by our customers will be investigated thoroughly by them.

Obviously, after such a prolonged development cycle, we are keen to make the product available as quickly and smoothly as we can.

Hi Andrew,

Can I ask you if the P3D version is ready to be sold (packaged) and that you are just waiting for the FSX version to roll out?
