  • Indeed, great work!   But let's not forget about those rather informative and detailled posts by Poppet too!

Late to the party but I looked over the SimConnect section tonight and it helped me get some issues I was having sorted...Thank You!

Thank you Rod, just what I needed.

Bob

Hey Rob,

Thank You for the Guide.  You really went the extra mile, so much detail and explanation.  Even my Max region purge question that I posted 2 days ago over here and prepar3d got answered.  Thank You again

While I am still reading - this new undisclosed feature looks very interesting - MaintainSystemCopyOfDeviceTextures

Guys and Gals - We all need to thank Rob for his hard work here.

Be careful with that setting ... default works best.

Rob could I suggest you include Arno's Autogen Configuration Merger utility in there as well? Its a very useful utility to fix conflicts between different developer's autogen files and is easy to install and once set up requires minmal user effort.. Cheers K

I'll add that to my next round of document updates ... but first I need to find out what it is .. FS Developer forum?

Since this is a living document - for later revision Poppet's guides should be added to the document as well (It would literally be making pdf of her p3d tips and tricks and sticking it in the guide).

At least we all got some new tweak to play with now.  Things we all have to do for our VAS issues.  4GB VAS limits owns our sim for now...lol :fool:

Sounds like a good idea, will check with Elaine ... at least a link to it, but she may want the FAME and fortune ;)

Rob,

To say thank you seems shallow or not a enough.  I have followed your blog, musings and when I saw this document it blew me away.  I am also in IT.  The fact that you found the time and the willingness to share your journey into P3d only benefits the whole SIM community.  You have picked up the light that Tom Allensworth led the way with (AVSIM), and you have left this community in a better place.   I don't normally respond to the forums but this piece of work moved me.

Wow, thanks Mark ... very kind words indeed.

Thank you very much for the guide, although much is targeted for the novice it is still a very good reference for the slightly more experienced. One atta boy!

NOTE:  All atta boys must be surrendered on receiving one aw darn.

Yes, novice or intermediate was the primary target ... I could have rambled on indefinitely and taken the tech in another direction but wanted to focus on what I get asked the most in various forums/PM.  My objective was to try to keep end users "interested" and perhaps deter those that toss their hands up and walk away from flight simulation (primarily due to it's complexity) ... success covers the entire spectrum of end users.

Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated.

Cheers, Rob.

Not being a novice to P3D and knowing it's inner workings fairly well, I learned a substantial amount from this. This was a massive amount of work and we as a community are forever grateful. Thank you!

Great work Rob. You've helped me out with questions and queries on many occasions and I'm truly grateful! As a recent P3D 4K/30hz convert, it's interesting to read the technical explanation of how long each frame has to render in 30hz vs 60hz. Great stuff!

Thank you Rob!! Great job and I know it will just get better in the future. Your leadership and effort deserve so much more than a simple "Thank You". I hope the above mentioned Professor of P3d sticks. A very fitting title indeed!! :Cuppa:
