Photoreal 737-300 instrument panel by Ralph Tofflemire for FS98

My first payware purchase was for FS98.  I bought the Ultimate Airliner Pack.  It came in a black cardboard box.  I was new to flightsim in those days and was flying default FS98 for 6 months before I even realised there was an aftermarket.  I thought default FS98 was awesome.  When I loaded up the payware, I thought I'd gone to Avgeek heaven

I resisted payware for a long time.   Been simming since FS98.  My first payware was the Captain Sim 727.  Love it, still fly it as much as any other plane I have, and now I have many.

I think it was Ultimate Terrain for FS9.

FS9 was the first sim where the gap between the quality and fidelity of freeware and payware was massive.

Before FS98 I never really played MSFS. It was the most boring sim on the market in my opinion, and the graphics sucked big time compared to the competition. Freeware was more than good enough for me up to and including FS2002.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

It was either Lago Airbus for FS95 and FS98 or Aerosoft China scenery for FS95 and FS98. But the first addon I really flew to death was the Dreamfleet 737-400.

It was either Lago Airbus

Lago did great stuff

Captain Sim C-130!

Carenado Piper Dakota for FS2004. I have it ported to P3D 3 now.

 LOL

For me it was the original pmdg 747-400 queen of the skies and Level-D 767-300ER back around 2007. To be fair I quite miss a good immersive 767 for todays standards, but I haven't fired up the level-d 767 since around 2012. The good old pmdg 747-400 queen hasn't been airborne for me since November 2012 as well. Quite miss them both, but I guess the newer version of the queen is round the corner at some point :)

Colombia Virtual 2005 PE for me. I've just had FS9 for 8 months. Because of this, I started to tweak my old P4 1.6...

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

Something from Georender. Those were my favorites, might still be.

I think mine was either Dreamfleet 737 or World Airports scenery boxed file - Only really started buying addons FS2002 onwards although started my MSFS journey with FS2000 and that Concorde :D .... start of a very unhealthy habbit!
