So, that>makes imminent sense to me. :)Actually, she sounded "Texan" (North Texan, that is; South Texan is another dialect altogether!)... ;)I just thought it a bit odd that the randomizer for ATC voices would choose a Southern Belle voice for UK and French contollers. BTW, "emminent" or "imminent?" ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

December 11, 200520 yr Author Actually, I did too, uninstall RC3 after a short time. I guess the methodology RC uses just is not the same as the default ATC as far as spontaneity, cadence, or whatever it is that makes the default ATC *sound* in some way more natural. Not sure why it is such a difference. I'm on the fence on RC4 because of this same issue, but more authentic interactions and content may be worth the trade off.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. December 11, 200520 yr I have never had AC3... so I cannot get a full version of AC4 as yet.they only have the upgrade version as of now.. it looks like. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 11, 200520 yr You can order the full version now from their website link. The restriction for new users has been lifted.

December 12, 200520 yr I also think that the voices on RC4 are disappointingly robotic. I was hoping for an improvement in this area as well as the ability to interact with AI (which was accomplished). For those two reasons although I purchased RC3, I did not use it very much and was really looking forward to the improvements in RC4. Based on the video, RC4 has great new functionality, but the robotic voices make me hesitant.

December 12, 200520 yr I placed the order for RC4.0 today based on the demo I heard. Looking forward to it.I downloaded the comprehensive manual and printed it out (300 pages). Good job on the documentation. The next improvement they can focus on is..the voice/sound file. I would be looking forward to it if they work on it. It would also be a good business decision for them. they have obviously put in all the effort on the engine. But they need to pay attention to the sound. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 12, 200520 yr Hi Everyone,This is certainly an interesting thread. As one of the long time beta testers, the voice issue has been a subject we have spent a lot of time with. Being one of those voices you hear, it was a long tough job to get all them recoreded and then digitized. As JD has pointed out, what you hear is a string of wav's put together to match the "exact" situation that you as the pilit are in. Remember that RCv4 deals with every flight situation as YOU fly it, which may account for some thinking the voices are robotic. In addition, RCv4 also is dealing with the AI planes that are around you.We had a number of people record the voice wav's from around the world. If you are flying in the USA then you should select the voides that are US. When in Europe you don't want to hear us "Yanks" speaking either. It should be very helpful to spend some time choosing your voices depending on where you are flying. For some of us Yanks, hering altimeter pronounced as AL-TA-METER, can be very refreshing. (LOL)In all seriousness, spend some time to learn this very detailed program, it provides so much more functionality than anything else you may experience, and remember it is always there anywhere in the world when YOU are there. :-)Bob Johnson
December 12, 200520 yr If memory serves, Proflight 2000 did an excellent job with voice recordings; this is why it took hours to install all the voice files. ricardo
December 12, 200520 yr >as YOU fly it, which may account for some thinking the voices>are robotic. Bob,I am not sure you understand what folks are saying. They are not "thinking" the voices are robotic - they *hear* robotic voices. It very well may be beyond current sound technology but certainly more fluid sounding human sentences would be highly welcome. Yes, the sentences are built from many seperate phrases and the process that glues those phrases together would benefit from some technological advances.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
December 12, 200520 yr Well after reading the entire thread, and weighing the plusses and minuses and watching one of the demo movies I made the decision to buy. I snuck down the hall to my wallet and slipped it past my wife with no problem. Unfortunately I could not find a DL version of RC4 on your site, so, no sale. Why no DL?AT
December 12, 200520 yr I agree Michael. i was impressed with the ATC in the demo, but the piecing together of the voices made it sound extremely artificial. I guess i didn't realize what a great job microsoft really did with the ATC, even though you don't get any accents, you still get a pretty realistic sentence without such drastic changes in tone
December 12, 200520 yr I agree with Alex that Microsoft did a great job on the voices...http://fsinsider.com/articles/assembled_voices.htm
