How many hours a day do you use your cell phone? That's just a mobile handheld computer.

"It could be worse...I could be sending pictures of my knob to some woman in Bulgaria..."

That usually changes the subject.

Shout out to all the female simmers out there! What's your opinion on this? oh....right...lol :-)

Well I often say that my flight simming hobby could be worse, I could be out at sports bars, pubs, or strip clubs instead if you prefer.  THAT often buys me more simming time for a while.

These were a couple of the funny meme's from the really funny FS Meme thread a few years ago.

My lady knows I like my flightsimming and supports it, she encourages me to do my repainting, she sees it as 'art'.  However as much as I love FS, I would never tell her 'Wait till I get to TOD', she's a good woman and I would be a total idiot to turn down 'alone time' with her.  :Big Grin:

I use autopliot and short hops in Air Hauler. She is my AI pilot and gets to(AI) fly while I sit back and co-pilot for some runs. She is a little disappointed that we fly in the Cessna 150 rather than the yellow piper cub she saw in action at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome.  Anyway, as long as we spend time together, she is good with the sim.  BTW, I had a printout of FSFlyingSchool pro manual out and she thought I was off to get my pilot's license. When I told her it was for virtual flying, I saw that she was relieved. She also almost had be take a introductory flight for real cheap at KMGJ but decided not to since she did not want to have been the one paying for this if well, we went down.. So at least we are safe in our man cave not spending the real big bucks for the real thing.  Here we are:

Maybe it would match her handbag better. :P

Just kidding. Women tend to have a bit different way of judging things.

In all seriousness you are lucky, Brian.

To have a woman sharing your hobby is not a frequent phenomenon.

Ah, the Flight Sim Widows.

To be honest, there is no good response - of that I'm sure after 30+ years of flight simming.

The only thing you can do is help get her a hobby / something she likes to do as much as you like flight simming.  Just be careful it's someTHING else to do... LOL.

My second marriage, and my wife is actually very understanding on my hobby. I'm not out spending money, not in the pub, and she knows that all guys have hobbies that usually take this away from home while mine keeps me at home.  Plus, we have set days/evenings when I agree not to switch on the computer and that helps quite a lot.

Best wishes!

I was showing my wife the other day a scenery of our home town I was working on in Poland. Damn she ripped it to shreds. I now remember to never ask my wife for feedback again  :P

She understands that it's cheaper than real world flying.

It's the looks I get when I head out the door with the headset and charts.....

"At least you know where I am on Friday nights."

I am lucky because my wife has her own hobbies and projects. I wouldn't recommend suggesting your spouse do the same, however.

I've got a pretty good situation:

- My computer is in the family room, so while I sim my wife can watch whatever shows she wants in the same room (usually stuff I wouldn't want to watch so we're both happy).

- I have a very understanding wife, doesn't give me grief about being on the computer as long as I balance it with everything else, help out around the house, generally be social etc. For example I usually stay off until we've got our daughter in bed. If I'm simming while she's up, she enjoys watching me so that wins points with my wife.

- she takes a marginal interest, though usually limited to asking where I flew, and being sympathetic when something goes wrong and I'm yelling at the screen.

- on weekends if we have plans I'll start a flight, get to cruise set pause at TOD, then go about my day with her. Then I can finish the flight whenever I have an opportunity later in the day.

- as an aside, she actually quite enjoys it when I play train simulator, she likes the sounds of the train on the tracks, horns etc in the background.
