But I am a passionate flight simmer who wants to see progress, which has very limited possibilities with the decade+ old MS technology. I guess I just don't understand why DTG decided to build on that, spend a lot of money on it, to have a very mediocre product at the end. Cool rain drops and a few new aircraft just don't make up a 'NEXT GEN' flightsim. Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

May 12, 20179 yr Commercial Member one question ladies and gents; there are so many developers enthusiast right here on this forum; regarding of what Fsw is or is not; how can Dtg expect to stop these simmers passion; replacing the Sdk with a mission editor ? Dtg like or not; the real FSX Engine and all FS serie was their Sdk. Mission editors are for 6 years old. This is based on assumption that Dtg is not interested in make the sdk available; as this is the impression given to me at least and others also.
May 12, 20179 yr Commercial Member No one ever said we were replacing the SDK with the Pro Mission Editor, @arsenal82. We are releasing into Early Access, don't forget... this isn't the final package! Aimee Sanjari Brand Manager, Dovetail Games

May 12, 20179 yr Here's another very clear question on this topic: Will the SDK be available for freeware developers to develop scenery and aircraft addons or not? May 12, 20179 yr This video was much better than the live stream. The rain effects look very good and the aircraft look nice. I am not someone who flies GA aircraft when I jump on my sim so this is a bit disappointing for me. I don't understand why you guys chose to only include GA aircraft when many simmers, including myself, have moved onto bigger aircraft for some time now. Many flight simmers today try to simulate an airline environment within their sim. I am not expecting the environment I have created within my current sim but one airliner (a small one at least) would have been nice. I feel like I am being sent back to kindergarten. Anthony A. May 12, 20179 yr Welcome me to the Kindergarten. I am a 65 years old child flying GA only. I am convinced I am the only doing such stupid things, of course. May 12, 20179 yr I cannot believe all of the negativity about this sim. It might be justified in the long term and it might not. At the moment it is an early access release. We do not yet know what the full release version will be like. How about we all wait and see before shooting it down in flames! If it then deserves it, great. I'll willingly pull the trigger.

May 12, 20179 yr Very interesting video. Clearly, this new sim won't give us everything on everybody's wish-list, but still something I look forward to trying. I was a bit taken aback by the weather options. An inability to download real world weather (and update in real time) would be a step back, since FSX had this by default.

If you felt anything like what I did, you thought there was no more possibility for improving our beloved sim, except for what 3rd party developers might be able to add to it. Before that moment people were speculating on what FS11 might be like. Then sometime later MS Flight was announced, and many of us wondered if this might prove to be FS11. Well, it might have been if MS hadn't squandered the chance with its business model. Please excuse this old fuzzy brain of mine if I don't have the events in the proper chronological order, but I think that the next hope dangled before us was P3D. At last here is a chance to see the code developed further, but due to EULA reasons, not everyone was comfortable going that route. So, when Dovetail announced that they had a deal with Microsoft to develop the FSX code into a new simulator, my heart did a little flip flop. Be honest with yourselves now. Didn't any of you have that experience? I personally was quite thrilled. Now there was a chance to see further development of the old FSX code. If it makes it any easier, try to think of this as the FS11 we were all pining for before MS shut down the development team. Who is to say what is and isn't possible with the old code? Look, the Aces team wasn't able, or weren't allowed to take the time, to produce weather effects on the windshields of planes, yet Dovetail managed to do it. They've introduced PBR effects and other marvelous atmospheric lighting effects. It even appears to me that the scaling of the buildings is more realistic. To be honest, when I watched Jordan's video, I felt a sense of awe with what Dovetail has achieved so far. I await next Thursday, the release date of FSW, with a great sense of anticipation. Many happy flights to all of you! Regards, Tom

I'm a year younger than you, and I only fly GA too. So that's two of us, anyway. My GA flying is the "modern" bush plane variety of GA with turboprops and turbine helicopters, along with the occasional vintage radial engine plane. But that will come in time, if the sim is successful. The default Pipers should be enough to evaluate the base sim. Are you seriously expecting an airliner of the like of PMDG, Majestic or even Aerosoft being included in the stock hangar? In an early access simulator, which will have an entry level price of $ 25, except for those like me who will get it for free? Seriously? Again, may I ask you which kind of "bigger aircraft" are you talking about, guys? Liners? Turboprops? Take a look at the current offer for FSX/P3D. You will not find any of these aircraft with very complex systems and avionics for less than $40. Or are you asking for those simplified toys which came with FSX? Complex aircraft are a third party thing. Period. It is not reasonable to ask such complex birds as default aircraft in an entertainment level simulator.
