Thoughts on Aerosoft Frankfurt v2 Professional?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at adding Aerosoft's Frankfurt professional to P3Dv4. Anyone who owns it that can give an honest opinion about it? I'm on the fence.

I own it, and had the non-professional one. I like it, but I don't use AI Traffic as I only fly on VATSIM so I can't tell you how that works.  I have also only been to the airport two or three times, and it's either pull away from the gate or into one, I don't do too much other than look at the eye candy.

Best wishes.

Gives me slightly better fps than the v2 version.

Great looking airport with very nice city skyline next to it.

I use it icw Nico Kaan's Live Traffic which makes it very realistic.

I think AS EDDF is really worth it. One of the better sceneries.

Gerard,

Is Live Traffic worth the time and money?  Sorry for the thread creep.

I also have EDDF and have no issues with it.  I'm in and out of EDDF a lot, mostly at night and always on the freight side.

I would not want to fly without it. Flying in the landing queue at final is a wonderfull experience, knowing that those aircraft are really there at that moment ...

At this moment I am beta testing.

Just at part of the approach in the rain at this very moment :

Sounds promising amidst a lot of folks who have a lack of love for aerosoft in general. I also have the new Stuttgart and am frankly underwhelmed with it so I was hesitant about this one.

Underwhelming is the right word, in my opinion. It's fine, no better and no worse. It certainly won't impress you the way, say, Flightbeam or even recent Taxi2Gate airports do.

I'm really not trying to be unfair here. It's not a bad airport on the whole! But it doesn't use any innovative techniques (at least not that I've noticed) and it does lack a certain flair. There's no "wow" moment.

Hmm, interesting point. Taxi2Gate just released an update to EDDM, perhaps that is a better choice... I do like their Paris.

Can someone explain me what the Professional has that non-professional doesn't.  Is this some new line of products by Aerosoft - Professional line? and is this product made exclusively by Aerosoft or they contracted to some third party devs?

The Pro version is made by professionals while the non-pro is made by amateurs...

Just kiddin..

New in version P3D V4:

All code (BLGs) compiled with P3D V4 SDK, using new material options and being performance optimised to the new engine

All objects optimised for new shadow technology

Ground layout including detailed aerial image following P3DV4 SDK

Automatic seasonal changes of relevant 3D objects based on V4 scripting variables, also for snowfall outside winter season

New, individual ground adaptations to prevent steps at airport borders when using different meshes (e.g. default/FTX Global)

New, optimised 3D runway lighting with activation/deactivation based on time of day and weather conditions

Apron lamps with new effects and dynamic light

Changed AFCAD approaches at Airac 1708

I was round a mates house and I thought it was very good.

The approach looked stunning, fps was very good. MT6 looked great.

Did not see any glitches.

Very good. A great airport. Praise we’re praise is due. To ever made it.

It's a good airport, a nicely done European hub.
