As for the record AIGM is also a simple install and instant traffic!

so you are saying you can fully set it up in 30 minutes?

It depends on your internet speed, but it's a one click install en let the program run that's all...

Downloads all files from the several libraries and compile all the flight plans and install the aircraft and liveries for you...

I have 547 airlines installed. Clearly that's going to take longer than 30 mins. But it's down to the user which airlines you want. You could just start with Qantas, British Airways and a few other major airlines and assess it there. Each airline is a separate BGL for the flight plan and there are additional texture files for the various liveries. That would take less than 30 mins.

If you then like what you see the rest can be installed in slow time. Say 20 per session for 25 sessions. There's no requirement to install all of them. Just what you want.

what are the implications of the AIGM default settings for payware AI aircraft?

how much would it $cost for a fairly complete AI installation?

& I checked that TG gives me about 7.5GB of AI aircraft - for my purchase...

I haven't bought any payware Ai so will leave that question to those who have.

Cost for my installation with no payware Ai was zero. However I made a contribution to them for the server costs.

My AIG installation is 42.1Gb. That's almost six times the size of yours. Imagine how many aircraft you're not seeing. 😉

If I position my aircraft at OERK at 10:00 local on a Thursday I see 17 Ai on the ground (3 airlines) and 3 inbound.

for reference my current Setup of OCI is 46.1 GB incl. SimObjects, Repaints, Sounds, Effects, Scripts and traffic files. The price is depending on what models you want to have as payware SimObject. Many Aircrafts are available as freeware or payware so you can decide.

Due to my error, I had to rebuild my AIM OCI from scratch last week. I have every current flight plan loaded and use the freeware option. I also make sure to remove DEFUNCT airlines (i.e. I keep things current).

My current statistics are:

  • 864 flight plans
  • 339 aircraft types
  • 6004 airlines
  • 6219 repaints
  • 2570 Boeing
  • 2117 Airbus
  • 311 Bombardier
  • 582 GA aircraft
  • 699 other aircraft

This is taking 40.5 GB on my drive.

Cheers!

Very interesting info,

what I would like is a 1 button freeware option,

is this possible?

& then I guess, can I have a parallel install of AIG & TG to compare?

& why is there even a payware option for aircraft models? if freeware is just as good.

  • Author

there is an option freeware only. If this is selected AIM will never ask you for the payware models 😉

Options, you chose your option, why can others not have their option? You argue against other's having their option.

Sure you can, you just generally disable one or the other, but they can both work at the same time but I don't know why you would want to outside of testing them.

In the meantime here's some comparisons from an album I created just to show the differences. The first photo for each airport is TG, then AIG.
All photos pairs are taken at the exact same time of day from a saved flight. Some airports weren't busy just due to the time of day, PANC for instance is never busy in TG, but with AIG it gets all of the cargo traffic that it should. Also note the near complete lack of any regional aircraft with TG. Some screens it may not look drastic, but there was always at least double (sometimes 3 to almost 4 times) the number of aircraft with the AIG traffic. Another point that isn't of interest to some, as they only want to have some traffic in their sim and don't care how realistic it is is that AIG strives to use accurate fleet numbers and realistic weekly plans, they optimize the schedule to make it fit similar to how the airlines do whereas with TG every aircraft just does 1 single return flight a day, every day. This creates drastically over inflated fleets with most of the traffic you see just sitting dormant waiting for the next day to come.

Short update: We got the info that on some systems the autoupdater is not working. We have fixed this problem and are currently in process of uploading the latest Version (0.9.4.15) to the Server. In case you do not get the auto update message please download the latest Version of AIM and repalce the files with the new files.

Ok, does this now work? The last time I updated manually, I lost all my simobjects and had to start downloading from scratch...
