Did it say that anywhere in the video?

It did not.  Note I said IF.  What you referenced DID mention a subscription service.  Again, I said IF.

Even if it was - $10/month for is well below the threshold that most people are comfortable spending on entertainment.  What's the Pro version of P3D cost every 2 years?  $200.  You're honestly saying that a simulator that costs $240 in the same time period and is a true next-gen simulator isn't worth the additional 20% cost?

Straw man and fallacy.

I, personally, do not do subscriptions for gaming.

And it won't be. Not sure why you guys are going over this, Xbox Game Pass is not a subscription exclusive service. It's a service to offer full access to a library of games. You can still buy games outright if you wish.

Anyone have any ideas on the graphics engine utilised? I thought it looked like a polished Flight but perhaps it could be a customised Unigine or Outerra? The ESP engine is pretty long in the tooth so a clean break onto something modern but already developed could be good.

How did you know about this? Are you in the industry?

I was on ACES when it shutdown and one of the graphics devs on Flight.  I talked to them and provided some context around code.  At the time they were basically prototyping the graphics tech, and looking to implement a more physically accurate flight model, but haven't really talked to them since.

Looooong time since i've been this excited......by anything........my heart actually jumped!!
Started out with FS4 up to FSX. To read that now the saga continues after all, it's almost unbelievable.
Here's hoping PMDG can get some finger in the pie.

It is hard to say. There are some things that look similar to FSX in the cockpit. I don't remember Flight as well, so not sure on that.

Definitely an in-house proprietary engine, given their long history of sim platforms. I highly doubt they would take an off-the-shelf product.

There are a lot of good concerns here. I am curious how it will handle VR and hope they do that justice for the immersion factor.

@sethosbut I thought all that expertise went with ACES? In my mind it might be cheaper to enhance a more recent existing graphic engine than start from FSX, Flight or totally afresh

There aren't really any that can do the whole world at scale without massive modifications.  Also, ACES didn't have a monopoly on expertise to make an engine :)

If all the wishlist items are met (better graphics and flight dynamics, good frame rates obtained on not-unobtanium based systems) and 3rd party integration (PMDG, FSLabs, I’m sure there’s more study level products out there) this is really going to give X-Plane 11 a run for its money. Definitely going to keep an eye on this; the verbiage seems to indicate they don’t even have a beta out there yet tho....
