June 18, 20196 yr Took a peek at their support forum and was a bit discouraged. Is EF working well enough to try it or should I wait a little longer? MSFS

June 19, 20196 yr The current version works already well with my setup. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
June 19, 20196 yr Works perfectly for me, apart from having to re-register it now and again (this should be fixed in the next update). June 19, 20196 yr I also took the plunge last week, after reading a lot here on avsim and on the REX forums. It works as it should in the automatic mode (not yet manually adjusted anything). I even use the PTA preset of AdamNZ as basis for it, I just eliminated all "dynamic" PTA settings (those without a fixed value). The "dynamic" part is now entirely up to REX EF. One thing that was extremely noticeable in my case: the water finally looks really good (setting: high). I never found a PTA preset that gave me good looking water (either to bright, to dark, not enough reflections, too much reflections, visible line between shallow and deep waters etc.), I never managed to adjust the PTA water options as such as I was happy (without live preview, adjusting PTA settings is a pain...), and now with EF, the water looked always spot on on the flights I did so far. This live adjustment is another big advantage of EF over PTA. You can move the sliders in the EF menue around and you instantly see the change in your sim. For other shader tools, I can not make any statement, as I do not have them. As far as I read, Tomatoshade for reflections only also works perfectly together with EF. Envshade, I have no idea. Overall, another little addon that adds to the immersion. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
June 19, 20196 yr The beta is now out version #4 a C build not tested that build yet as it came out 8 hours ago, but the last beta was great. No need imo anymore for PTA/TS. In Auto, it just does everything for you. So anyone still waiting just wait for the new build to come out and fill your boots. Edited June 19, 20196 yr by Nyxx David Murden. David, Thanks for all your tips & tricks concerning REX EF. Coincidentally received the email last night that there was a new beta build to test, I followed the link but was not allowed to view the forum. Let me know if it breaks anything. All I really want to do is set EF to auto, open my AS, and go out and fly the way I normally do. I'm really looking forward to flying from a building storm scenario in Tampa to thunderstorm activity in Miami. MSFS

June 19, 20196 yr A couple of questions for those already using EF to help decide whether to take the plunge: What kind of impact does EF have on FPS and GPU utilisation? I'm using SF + ASP4 and I do find that a cloud texture will suddenly pop in or out occasionally - does adding EF to the mix help eliminate this at all? thanks Darren Morris
June 19, 20196 yr I use an internal frame limit of 30FPS and I did not observe any impact by EF. Note that I use only 512x512 cloud textures and even then, when several layers of clouds and overcast conditions are depicted, my FPS will suffer due to this, no matter if EF is active or not. About popping clouds: I have still seen this even with EF active. I now reduced the update rate in both ASP4 and EF down to the minimum, means they both update themselves as fast as possible (1min for EF, 5min for ASP4 if I remember correctly). My idea: the faster the update rate, the lesser the extend of change between two weather situations...
