REX EF Final Vertict?

Federico the next sentences might be complete nonsense...

I suppose EF injects SF "cloud puffs" to generate a "3d" looking OVC or even clouds. I also suppose that it creates a "blanket" of a certain size of those "puffs" whenever a METAR reports OVC. If a station does not report anything (or it's update is not on time) then the WX will send erroneous or no data at all, thus the OVC "blanket" immedeately "stops". I again suppose that those "blanket" sizes are choosen to get a cloud pattern as accurate as possible e.g. station A reporting OVC and 10mile out station B reports already clear skies so the OVC blanket should not spread over station B.

Now if all the nonsense I wrote above does have a grain of truth, then the guys responsible for the generation of the "OVC square blanket" could trick that, so the puffs don't end abruptly at the edge of the OVC (in other words to generate more puffs than actualy reported).

I'm sure that if the other guys did it, you guys can do it also.

The injection process is done by the weather engine. EF does not modify what is in the grid (in this case emptied grids), or does not place clouds - who does this is the weather engine (or even if you click on the P3D weather menu, and load a theme then P3D will inject.

If you started experiencing this with EF+SF+AS4. then or SF or AS is doing it. Now, if you tell me that never happened with AS, then you should raise this issue in the SF forum. Big note here: this is a P3D issue in general, but SF or AS should be able to catch this up.

Hope I was clear.

Thanks

REX is so confusing, nobody is able to clearly explain what their programs really do. even REX themselfs doesn't fully understand what the thing is doing to the sim.

Seriously?  Just stop it.

I would like to the take the opportunity and ask you a couple of questions:

1. “It also has some overcast tricks on weather and style based cloud rendering.” Does this mean that EF also model some of the clouds injected in P3D? I remember you stated something totally different in the “Rectangles Clouds” post in REX Forum (Which is now closed).

2. Why do REX still offer EF and SF saying that is 100% compatible with AS while at the same time in the REX Forum some of the developers have confirmed that there are some textures AS is not reading properly and AS replaced it with default clouds?

Let me answer your questions here:

Regards to #1:
EF does not do any sort of weather injection.

Regards to #2:
EF and SF are 100% compatible with other products.  Your statement about AS not reading some textures properly is completely FALSE and this misinformation needs to stop.

Again I will say this again it has to do only with weather engines.  We handle the weather differently than our competitors.

But do we actualy need this feature? I mean ASCA already injects it's cloud textures based on WX influence. EF should "just colorize" those....

I do understand however the need of that function when SF3D is used instead of ASCA but only cause it replaces the need of actually running SF3D in paralel.

Am I completely off with my assumption?

Choice is a good thing and we do it differently.

It is really frustrating to received this kind of answers from the developer of a product I have bought and unfortunately it is not working properly for me.

I will not stop to share here my experience so far with AS+SF+EF combo. Since I started to use the three of them together I have experience rectangle clouds patterns in Overcast condition. The screenshot have been posted in this thread as well as the REX Forum.

I never had rectangle clouds in 3 years flying the AS+Rex texture direct +soft clouds combo. I have deposited my thrust in REX before and It worked out, that was the reason why I decided to give a try to the SF+EF combo.

As I have explained here before, I uninstalled SF+EF more than a week ago and the “rectangle clouds” issue disappeared.

I just want to find out a solution to this problem, I am not alone in this boat, other people have the same problem. It is also true that other customers are not having any problems at all.

It is the third time that I have received a reply from REX team and in anyone of them I have received a “let’s see what could be wrong with your system, share your settings and will find a way to fix this”, no, I have only received answers telling me to stop posting “FALSE” things that have been confirmed by you guys in the REX forum and here also.

You may not like it, and I understand you. The only that I want is to have these three programs working as good as the pictures shared here by @Nyxx . This was what I was expecting when I spent 60 bucks in two products which right now I am not using because I don’t like to see squared clouds.

Gerard, you can do a lot to the looks of clouds in manual mode, think of it as a live to see PTA. I could see you playing with that for hours. Save when you're happy. Then you just load your reset again like you would with PTA.

In Auto the idea is it all changes given the scene and weather reports. I find the clouds can be really white when they should be when above. but the direction of sunlight plays a role.

But in Auto mode, you can again with the mini UI control things and then get it to save the last state for when you fly next.
