Someone has to keep the portal open as FSX:SE is still selling well. DTG cannot do so because their licenses expired and they did not want to renew it. That is called "support." Fr. August 21, 20196 yr Copied from my own message on "What's Your Deal-breaker" Thread: "...……..It makes no sense at all to try to start a new simulator with a fresh piece of paper from ground up in the belief (hopes) that it can compete and improve on what's been around for years. It makes far more sense to "throw away" the weakest part (scenery) and capitalize on the ongoing development of - most likely FSW - and maybe even P3D. As far as I understand both contracts (from what little was made public), neither LM nor Dovetail Games were ever given complete rights to the FSX engine, so I would not be at all surprised to see a 64 bit engine remarkably similar to FSW and P3D (….including SimConnect) "
August 24, 20196 yr Just my two cents here. Primary plan of attack-convert FSX 32 bit to 64 bit. Revamp all the scenery to use Unity (as per the nice video a couple pages back). Tweak UI, weather, aircraft, ATC etc, to represent a more up to date expectation of each. It always seemed that scenery was the biggest drawback for flight sims, especially when it came to accuracy. I’m not a developer or tech of any type, just a user. But the bottom line is, until they show us or tell us, it is what it is, just our 2 cents worth. Discussion is valuable though, they apparently monitor sites such as this and will have known what the expectations are from many future customers. It’s theirs to win or lose! August 24, 20196 yr I think it's an enhanced version of Forzatech. It's modern, it's built inhouse, it's well optimized for Xbox.

I might add that AVSIM has enjoyed between 1.2 million and almost 2.4 million hits each month over the past year. AVSIM appreciates the continued popularity from our membership and guests. August 24, 20196 yr @Greazer I’m guessing you are primarily an XP user based on your comments and YouTube channel. Do you use any other flight sims? What’s interesting is that the majority of your Avsim activity seems to be in this forum and not the XP forum. Why is that? Constructive criticism should always be welcomed. I’m not seeing much constructive in your comments, though. But maybe that’s just a short coming on my part. Chris

There's also the Steam X-Plane discussions board. Both are really active boards. The Avsim X-plane forum is quite dead when compared to Steam and the .org. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

If you really, seriously think, that Prepar3D V4 is "FSX converted to 64-bit", then you really need to have a closer look as to what Prepar3D really is and what is included, developed, improved and exactly what Lockheed-Martin have accomplished! I'm sorry, but quite frankly, I find it a bit weird, that people keep making this statement. Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471

There is a world beyond Avsim, and respectfully, Avsim in the past have always been pretty much FSX/P3D centric. As others mentioned Avsim is not the go-to forum for XP, just like it isn't for DCS or Aerofly FS2. Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
