September 26, 20196 yr Whooooo, just look at the detail on the water surface on the San Francisco scene, you can see all the different streams on the water! Every media update is more spectacular than the previous one and we always think it can't be better. How is this thing possible? Stunning. Edited September 26, 20196 yr by Noooch
September 26, 20196 yr I was hoping this series would be more like a developer diary so that we could get an insight on the development process (this would be great especially for the Aerodynamics episode). But otherwise this preview looks stunning and makes me more excited for the full release.

I'm suspicious the reason the sequences are taken from FL60 or from directly above at low altitude (like NYC and the forest/meadow scene) is to hide issues such as "auto-gen" pop-up. Sorry Microsoft but this video does not impress. If you want to impress me, take some videos of low level flight, say flying down the Hudson and then into JFK and taxi to gate. Your kidding right? Maybe it is hiding issues. Its still outstanding and impressive. You have never seen footage like that in a sim. And while your at it, perhaps do some homework on what an ALPHA development stage means. If that is Alpha, Imagine what final release will be like. September 26, 20196 yr The really impressive thing for me (it was all impressive..) was the feeling of altitude in the early shot with the cumulus clouds WAY below. This has always been one of my biggest peeves about the current sims. Of course it had a fisheye effect which probably enhanced the feeling.....cool stuff Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11

I suspect whatever engine they are using (Forzatech?) has never had to deal with such extended visibility ranges. But sure, lets all just tell MS how much we love what we see, like popping clouds (and probably autogen), and then they won't have to bother trying to fix the issue now in Alpha (or ever). Matthew S

Hehe did you see the cars going around the Columbus Circle roundabout. Nice one Microsoft!

Yes of course I'm buying it (it's probably a subscription anyway). Should be great for low level VFR and bush flying. Matthew S
September 26, 20196 yr I watched it, but I think everyone and their brother is on the site right now. Got slot of buffering. But I will watch again, pausing on every scene. I'm impressed with the visuals MS. keep going, dont let us down with the rest of the SIM. I'll remain optimistic until I see it in its entirety. But silly to pass judgement on one video. Or any video or screenshot that is.

This is just a "preview", most likely just some scenes we might see again in the full discovery series videos. Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

I do wish they’d use something a bit better than whatever they’re using now. Try right-clicking on the video and download the .MP4 file for local viewing. It was a very slow load for me here, I wish they were using something as efficient as YouTube. I guess that doesn't bode well for my connection speed with any streamed content (sigh). Quote I take it it’s good? It's very good, but I'm reserving judgment personally, until we can choose our own destinations and see what this looks like from the ground up in an actual aircraft.
