I played that plague game via game pass a few weeks ago. Really gorgeous looking game, but the music was my favourite bit. Those guys really love rats though...

Years and years ago, i think at the time of the start of FS9, i read (probably on flightsim.com) that Bill Gates himself has always been the one that initiated and loved flightsimulators, just saying.

Correct.

Well, it's really seems that they are passionate about what they are doing, and introduce them to real aviation, a lot of them got their PPL, was a great idea.

I am a pilot, but because of my work and where it is, I am not able to fly, so I am really expecting this simulation.

The best thing for me, I have a very young daughter, and it would be awesome to discover the world virtually with her during rainy day, and why not, if the cockpit sharing is real, teach her how to fly.

I’m hoping this might make my daughter play a bit less fortnite!

Yes I had it on a commodore 64 pro logic like I said  it`s the second longest software on Microsoft windows, but I would not call it a flight simulator back then it was just a black screen with white dial's and lines no plane.

Everybody knows flight simulator started before Windows. The title had "flight simulator". Stop posting fake news again, this ain't CNN.

I am not it started before windows but not the longest on WINDOWS it came to windows later. I did not a say it was not flight simulator if you read my post I said I would not call it a flight simulator back then, I got it from a game mag for my daughter and was classed  as a game in the mag.

You may have got it as a game, but it was developed as a simulator by Bruce Artwick...

Well before Windows showed up  🙂

And at the time it was the best flight simulator we had available for home use. 🙂

Not correct it was not Microsoft`s to start with windows then flight sim I still have floppy disc with 3.1 WINDOWS.

According to Wikipedia and the Flight Simulator History webpages:

MSFS 1.0 was released sometime in 1982, that was before Windows 1.0 was released in Nov 1985, MSFS was already at version 2.12 by 1985.

And yes this is the Microsoft (not SubLogic) version being referred to.

This history of flight simulator is well documented of its history. My first was MS FS 2.0 started by DOS.   Remember it well.  But the conversation is getting away from the original op's comments. Have to say I echo the same sentiment.  Its really a breath of fresh air to have the dedication , commitment not just to it being oh another flight simulator, but to really go all out and pay attention to the real finer details thats never really been simulated to this degree before.  This is what makes its a real desktop simulation and not so much a game.  Its what gives those of use who always dreamed to be pilots and fly but were never able to for one reason or another.

So thanks to the team for all their efforts time, and one of the most masterful, is the transparency to keep us all informed. Its really great to have a small part of its development even as feedback and most importantly have value in that feedback that is greatly considered in development. Thanks to MS for supporting the team and making it all happen.

I wonder how they and MS connected on this project specifically.

I believe in one of the interviews they stated how they got together.  I can't remember which one.

They've stated that the release of the new simulator is actually the start (not the end) of what's to come and are in it for the long haul.

I agree these are good times, and the potential for excellence is on the horizon.

I just hope this community and the MSFS development team don't get too caught up in the "in it for the long haul, so be patient" theme. The reason being is, X-Plane & P3D have been in it for the long haul too, and we are still extremely lacking in both of them.

I say lets get the lead out now - not wait for ANOTHER 10 years!

Yes do it right, but aim for NOW...do what it takes...we have waited LONG enough!

Yes!  As much as a wireframe world could have.
