October 22, 20196 yr Microsoft did say that their plan is to eventually have everyone who signed up to be involved in at least one of the technical alphas. The chances of that being the very first one is unlikely I guess, although we all want it to be :P. http://www.phoenixva.org PVA1103 Robert Stevens

You can bet that quite a few people who "signed up" to the alpha tests are only interested in getting their hands on early versions of the simulator, and don't intend to do any testing of any kind. I doubt that Microsoft's Azure AI is advanced enough for a task like this. Maybe they have Skynet and a squad of terminators to sort the wheat from the chaff? It isn't something that needs to be done before tbh. In my experience on other games, we had regular checks regarding how much feedback we were bringing, how present were we, how often we showed up if there were organized testing sessions etc etc. And those who did not fit on those requirements were kicked out. It really depends on how they have organized it, how much of an alpha it is etc etc Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

And not only here but absolutely nowhere. I find that odd. If after the 24th we still won't get 'I am in' posts (anywhere) I think we may conclude the NDA indeed forbids to even talk about that... because I can't imagine MS only inviting people who don't visit (flight sim) forums. 😉 "I do find it amazing that after 5 days and with only 2 more to go NO ONE here has posted 'I am in!' yet...!" Can you imagine the amount of response that individual would get for being DUMB enough to let it be known! J. R.

You can take a read for yourself. I strongly believe no testers have been invited yet, and probably won't be until the 23rd/24th. 1 hour ago, bashope said: Quite a few people have "hinted" at getting the email in the facebook group. October 22, 20196 yr Hopefully MS has safe guards from pirates getting the beta and releasing it online.

October 22, 20196 yr It’s normal to involve external people in alphas? Or it’s something that it’s usually made in the betas?

Another thing such testing bring is a more or less hidden text in every game view with your nickname or email, or anyway something which can be used to identify leaked screenshots/videos. 44 minutes ago, aleex said: It’s normal to involve external people in alphas? Alpha testing is normally done internally, usually quicker and easier to do it that way as it's an earlier stage and it takes a lot of effort to get public involvement. Beta testing is done in a production environment so when everything is pretty much ready to go but you want to iron out many bugs before "official" release. http://www.phoenixva.org PVA1103 Robert Stevens

October 23, 20196 yr I guess Microsoft's idea of inviting people for tech alpha 1 involves finding some poor old bloke running an old 9800 GT in the middle of Antartica on a 1 Mbps satellite internet connection. Lucky b*****d. 😂 Edited October 23, 20196 yr by KillerKlient http://www.phoenixva.org PVA1103 Robert Stevens

Perhaps unheard of. And even at the indie level, it's usually billed as paid early access, not giving people alpha builds to test and professionally report on.
October 23, 20196 yr Is there an actual definition of what an alpha is and what a beta is? I’ve tested ‘betas’ that barely worked, and tested ‘alphas’ that were basically release-worthy and just had a couple of fundamental bugs that were fixed quickly, and it was more about just adding content over time. Seems like a label to manage expectations more than anything else these days.
