Microsoft Flight Simulator - X019 - Gameplay Trailer

The sim looks beautiful as always in the trailer but this does show some of the limitations of the AI with blurred textures on buildings and lots of sharp edges or contorted shapes as anomalies.

I'm sure it less noticeable when in flight and certainly not at anything but very low altitudes.

Every trailer just gets me rehyped 🙂

The blurriness comes from the video. Probably motion blur. The textures will be sharp ingame don’t worry

The confirmed in an interview today that the base 747 will have a functional cockpit with FMS

They also said they are sticking around long term and they are building the platform for the guys who dedicate 8 years to creating a single plane.

I am curious on how all this will work with a xbox type platform.

Interview number 3 from FSElite with the devs skip to 11 mins in third party.

PS we know developers that spend 8 years on an aircraft which is stunning we want them in the sim.

He used that as an example of people working hard and doing amazing things. He never said they would not have functioning cockpits. You do realize that part of the reason why 3rd party devs take so long to make planes is because they have limited resources? Anyway, people who went to the preview event have already confirmed that all of the switches in the planes they flew worked and they were able to do cold starts without shortcuts.

Yes that's the GA aircraft they used in the test version.

Ok so are you saying The wide bodies will not have functioning cockpits?

The developer already said the 747-8i will have a functional cockpit including gauges/switches and a functioning FMS. No idea what depth, but they are adding functionality.

Watch the developer interview in the other thread here.

It will all be functioning to a point. Not as deep as Pmdg or Zibo Mod.

Graphics with low level flying in MSFS2020

I'm actually glad they aren't hiding this stuff.  There were a couple of really quick shots in the trailer where the close-up terrain was a bit mangled looking by the extrapolation from satellite data - and I'm glad for that!  It means this really is the sim, and it really is a flawed piece of software, not some magical be-all end-all wonder.

They will probably be taking reports from users for months or years, who have come across parts of the world that have been mangled by the procedural process.  It's just the reality of procedurally modeling something as super-massive as the planet.

And I'm sure even those bits of mangled terrain probably look just fine at typical flying altitude, versus hooning around a couple hundred feet from the ground.

The hard stop when banking right in Cessna cockpit view was a little unrealistic, but otherwise Microsoft gets an A+ for eye candy.

Oh my lord. Kleenex moment.

Some of that footage is indistinguishable from real world. Totally stunning.
