Traffic Globa or UTL ease of instulation?

Featured Replies

For some reason MyTraffic6 and all my AI traffic disappeared from my sim. I feel it is time for an updated traffic addon since MT6 is dated and terribly user unfriendly IMO. Very difficult to get it working after installation and instructions are poor. I have used this for several years now and am ready for a new AI traffic program. That comes down to UTL or Traffic Global. Would like to hear from users if  these are user friendly, easy to install and get up and running with a minimum of fuss and bother. I've read all the threads on this subject and am mainly looking for something simple to use that will interject correct up to date liveries into my sim.

Thanks for any help making this decision.

AIG AI Manager.  It's silly to pay for anything now when we have them.

I would never suggest anything other than Alpha-India's AIG one click, with the current condition of payware ai programs. It would make no sense to me to do so.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

AIG no question.   The models are beautiful and updated all the time.  Try it and you will see how easy it is to figure out on how to install.  Just need to do a little reading/research to get it how you want or how much AI you want in your P3D simulator, or ask the experts here on Avsim!

Ut2 schedules are nearly 3 years old

Traffic global is 18 months.

Both of which are extremely difficult to update if not impossible.

We have been duped by both.

Avoid Traffic Global !! The P3D version is still early access, even though they released the XP 11 version, which was announced wayyy after the P3D version was released. The P3D version has nice airplane models, but traffic is very sparse and not available at all at many smaller airports. It also takes a while (10 minutes?) until airplanes start to move on the ground. Adding your own traffic and models is possible, but that process is not user-friendly at all.

Support for TG P3D is does virtually not exist, and there is no established user community that could help you. However, the worst about TG is that it appears to mess up traffic in P3D: I tried to uninstall it and managed to remove TG traffic. However, it appears to block or overwrite some P3D system files. As a consequence, I was unable to install any other traffic program, or even get default traffic running again. My only option to get traffic again was to reinstall TG and live with empty skies above smaller airports. TG is early access, so I cannot blame JustFlight for that, but I would definitely not recommend to install it.

Prior to TG, I had UTL installed. It works nicely and is very user friendly, but it has two features that I did not like: the airplane models are outdated, and UTL "takes over" traffic generation. With this I mean that it does not simply install new bgl files with traffic information, but it injects traffic dynamically into P3D. As a consequence, some ATC programs, like VoxATC, are unable to control traffic around you.

Beside AIG I also use Traffic Global EA.
Planed start to move within 20 seconds and no messing up whatsoever.

So imho TG is working fine and has very nice models too.

I use AI traffic in this order :

- FSPXAI

- Traffic Global

- AIG

All with Fs Reborn Pro lighting !

Two years ago I would have said UTL. I have been a big fan of their products since the beta version of the first Ultimate Traffic (2003?). Back then it was the perfect solution to spending a bunch of time downloading and installing stuff from ProjectAI. If I recall, Project AI created a installer, but I don't think it was that successful.

Today, the clear winner is AIGIAM. In the end, to make UTL look really good, you will need to download a bunch (1,000's actually) of freeware repaints and AI models. AIG does it all for you, and it is updated regularly. Flightplans and paints are updated all the time. Bugs are addressed on what seems to be a daily basis. Support is wonderful. It is still technically a beta, but since it has been in public beta for over a year, the current version is very stable.

My 2 cents:

UTL - Payware - Easy to install but it's never updated, aircraft liveries out of date and not good AI models.

AIG - Freeware - Easy to install and maintain but you have to follow certain steps with the AI-Manager (which work quite well indeed), constantly updated, aircraft liveries up to date and superb AI models.

Conclusion: AIG, as @Twenty6 said, end of story.

Another user who switched away from MT6 to (briefly UTL) before finding AIG. There's nothing better and constantly updated by enthusiasts. Whilst it's free I made a contribution to fund their servers and hope many others did too.

to throw my wild card in.

I use realtraffic combined with lorbi live traffic.

you need to spend a good few hours setting it up first time with the correct codes you'll find its near on 100% accurate traffic as it imports it from ADS-B

if anyone is interested I can send over my settings for Lorbi.  I currently have 9088 different liveries / models installed.  I dont think that can be beaten for accuracy.. world wide.

thats a screenshot below of how clever it is and with Lorbi working with it you can make sure the a/c taxi to the gate  and only show traffic within certain radius / altitude
