March 18, 20206 yr Sorry man. I'm all about being prepared, and I agree that there are many things we're not adequately prepared for, but I choose not to live my life in fear of low-probability events. And I definitely do not cede my freedom to the government in return for some perceived security. While our culture is gradually changing, a good many of us still believe in individual responsibility. I'm responsible for my well-being, not a nameless and faceless government bureaucrat. Yes, I rely on government for all kinds of things in normal everyday life, from food safety, to paving the roads, to the common defense of the Homeland. But if the stuff really hits the fan, I'm not going to rely on the government to protect me from looters, or provide me with food and water. I've made other arrangements.

I like how its unfathomable to people like @Alan_A that someone might simply have a different experience, viewpoint, or opinion. Anyone who doesn't believe exactly what he believes is just too stupid to understand his superior intellect. I'm only in the office twice a week, teleworking the remainder of the time. I haven't ventured outside the house for anything other than gasoline and my mission essential job in two weeks. But because I don't believe that the government has the authority to impose its will by force upon an unwilling populace, I'm a big dumb dumb who won't be able to comprehend the point of a satirical article written at a 6th grade level. A situation made all the better because he's passive aggressively responding to someone he put on his ignore list because he couldn't articulate his arguments without resorting to petty condescension. You are correct in believing that no democratic government has the authority to impose its will on an unwilling populace. Governments that try this invite being overthrown. On the other hand, when the greater majority of the populace is actually getting behind supporting government efforts. And vehemently obstructive denialists thinking it's political fun raising noisy "points of order" they misunderstand, threaten to DIRECTLY derail the success of URGENT government interventions acting on behalf of the populace (and WITH the majority of the populace behind them that's exactly what an elected government is SUPPOSED to do!), then the unfettered principle of "freedom of choice" risks becoming dangerously counter-productive to the survival of the rest of the population. Total "Individual Freedom" is NEVER some absolute right. This fanciful notion doesn't actually exist ANYWHERE in the real world. There are clearly some extreme limits or situations where it must yield to the permissions of the greater society. There HAS to be a common sense acceptance of this reality. Noodle, you have behaved admirably in personally handling how you have reduced your exposure to this disease. The issue is not your admirable behavior. It is what to do about the non-co-operative behavior of OTHER members of the populace that will directly UNDO, and threaten YOUR, and your family's survival - despite all your good practices. You cool with allowing others to put your family at risk? I certainly am not! How did your folks and friends react on the days following that fateful Sunday morning, 7th December 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbour? Did they immediately rush into the streets yelling "us ornery folks out in the countryside didn't see this coming ... we haven't got all the facts yet ... And right now, we sure as H***, ain't gonna take no orders from no stinking, panicking, government official or politician ORDERING us to do what THEY think we need to do now!" Americans did NOT have that attitude. They immediately rallied together with a common purpose. The outcome (which had absolutely NO certainty at that point!)) became the famously storied history of a wonderful nation at its prime. ... There is a time and place for celebrating the hallowed benefits of "American Individualism". This is NOT that time! Today, America, and the Rest of the World is again under vicious attack. This time the enemy cannot be seen. But it is there. Just as dangerous. French President Macron has got the analogy right! We need to remember how "we, the people" pulled together at Pearl Harbor. And do the same again. Now. And the Next time. Because this is the New Normal. There WILL be a next time. And it WILL be worse. Bet on that! We need to up our game. Fast! The alternative is ... too ghastly to contemplate!

March 18, 20206 yr Ha ha! mSparks! I LIKE your video! I have the same boyish passion for wantonly blowing stuff up! Yeah, we may grow OLD. But we NEVER grow up! At least, I try to remind myself to keep misbehaving like that every morning. Childish, I know, but that's my life's philosophy. But WHAT terrible OLD, outdated program is that chopper playing in? Those antiquated blurry graphics ... ? The simplistic ground detail ...? And comical graphical presentation in the cockpit ...??? !!!!!!! It's reminding me of all those OLD programs from the PREVIOUS century! Sheesh! Gosh, Fella! There's a new sheriff arrived in town! I think the better analogy for describing your video, would be that the new sheriff - the chopper - is destroying ALL the OLD Flight Simulators stuck on the ground. They not even moving while this new sheriff is jumping around! Such passivity will be the END of them. None of them will be flying much when the new sheriff lands! I'm very much looking to the New Aircraft Designer in FS2020. The 5-year old in me can't wait to start modifying an A380 or an A350 to take on a full weapons load, and ... and ... Will ... stop ... right ... there - because the adults in the room get very upset when us kiddos get ideas and start to misbehave. Edited March 18, 20206 yr by Jonnoxx

Leen de Jager Leen I am not sure that doing like a snail cowering into its shell is really the solution. Hope & pray to survive maybe... I am not much of a praying guy but I respect that very much. Now, taking at heart all the precautionary measures to break the contamination chains, avoid hoarding and helping others is even more useful in these difficult times. And, yes!, to hope for a release of FS20 in time his year is very important. Why ? Because it means that life goes on, that people have still a work and are paid at the end of the month, that life will soon be back to normal. Hope is not only surviving, hope is getting back our lives from this nasty virus. The last thing we need now is lethargic depression. 😉 Don't take my post badly, I wrote it in a friendly spirit. March 18, 20206 yr domkle, I'd rather have a release of MSFS this year, instead of FS20, which, as you might not know, is also (officially) known as Farm Simulator 2020 (also officially). Lets not confuse anybody else. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
March 18, 20206 yr I am not in a lethargic depression. And I appreciate your reaction. I am not the snail cowering in my shell. I have a cycle-shop , clients going in and out by dozens a day. All day long being pro-active-prudent. Washing hands all day long and keeping my breath when walking through a crowd is un-avoidable I am sure we all hope and many of us pray for better times. Not praying myself because I am not a religious man. I used the phrase hope and pray as a saying we often use. And yes you are right, when the release of MSFS2020 will mean the crisis is over, I hope I`ll be able to buy it a.s.a.p.

March 18, 20206 yr At first I was worried that the Covid 19 outbreak would delay MSFS, now I'm starting to not care as much because I'm starting to worry more about my job (where I've worked for 30+ years) and my families health and security. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night. He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler. He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant. As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine. Stay safe out there. (Updated 4/6)
March 18, 20206 yr The Market is falling and braking into pieces, even Microsoft Corp is in red, rather than a delay we may expect a cancel of the whole thing and as someone wrote above, @eaim , our own jobs and overal uncertainty is primary.
