EF is a shade mode Pete, when I thought I would try SF sky textures the problem was there straight away. Did not show on the FSL but PMDG NGu leadings edge of wings took on the colour of the sky, even when full overcast.

I just use the default sky textures of P3D. Not touching them SF.

@rstough I've purchased Rex Skyforce long ago but gave up on it due to instant crash of P3D when using it (usually 10 min after scenario start). Was this issue ever isolated and fixed as part of the update?

I've posted this back in the REX forum but was given workarounds like changing settings.

BTW this crash type (with no trace or error log) is very identical to the 717 view switch crash.

Probably why PMDG tell people to NOT use any shader programs with there aircraft.

It was funny to watch, the default sky was loaded in at first, at that point slats were "normal" then I saw the REX SF sky colour theme load in and then BANG slats shine turned into the same colour as sky even when it was full overcase so it was not even reflective colouring. Strange and really horrible.

Like I said it did not affect the FSL, but for looks imo the PMDG NGu is so much nicer. Best modeled aircraft in and out imo. (MD80 for a retro is up there also) so to have the slats turn green/blue was a show stopper.

This is not a common problem. I have always used REX products with out issue. I would try the latest full install build and see if you have any problems.

I just want to add, I did a fresh Prepar3d install and installed the latest full release builds of Sky force/Environment force and never have I seen a thunder storm so realistic in a sim ever. Even my 6yr old daughter said "WOW, I would not want to be flying in that". It was absolutely amazing with all the layers of clouds, lighting, shadows, wind, heavy rain and lots of lightning.

Well done REX! 

They have announced update which brought me into loop of updating back and fort without changing VS#....Than I realized in that process that I have installed additional RexUpdater (?!) It was odd since I have installed Rex downloader which doesn't work on updates (go figure)...I launched new updater and I had option to choose what I wanted to update.....I chose option A for SF...downloaded, installed and finally got latest version. Only disappointment was that I had to, again, enter license number and all particulars in spite of promise that we don't have to do that.....

Other than that all works as advertised....need better communication although when I submitted ticket few weeks back they followed up with me which was really nice....Anyway...they could be short of people or something....

I'm in an update loop.  Launch skyforce.  Says updates available 5.0.2020.0228.  I click yes.  Rex installer downloads.  I run it.  Then install.  Restart program and back to saying updates available.  Any tips?

 

 

do you get the the pop up black doss window? I had to choose A or B, then it ran the update.

Skyforce does not change the shaders.

You try it, install SF sky's or 8 day skys, load up P3D with EF running and load the PMDG NGu and look at the front slats and tell me what you see please.

Hi David. Why using the 8 day cicle? Isnt it dynamic in real time?

Btw. Here in Denmark boarders has being closed for Corona virus. We have heard its more contaminating than SARS but not as deadly.

Where is this update? I start Rex Skyforce and there is no mention of an update. It says I am update on version 5.0.2018.0104.

Don't  know  about the  8  day  cycle but  I  got  the  10  day  cycle  set  01  installed  with  no issues,  I  start  ef  and  than  the  sim   and  have  no issues   the  front  leading  edge are  not  blue

strange  that  you don't  get the update, if  you want  to update  there is  a download  link  in the  rex  discord  forum under  sky force,   Instructions  on  what  to do  is  also  there as well
