Generic landclass textures where roads run criss-cross through houses, not even in offline mode please.

- Installing sceneries by manually dowloading the install files that also have dependencies to multitude of other libraries that all reside on different websites that also require you to register to the site before you can download them. Only to find out that the fifth dependency library is actually now a broken link which leads you to crawl through various different message boards to find out where this library can now be downloaded from.

I love X-Plane but dealing with addons is terrible 😑

My sentiments exactly! And even worse, once any of these myriad libraries gets updated and you want to use new scenery that is partly based on these updated libraries, XP11 tells you that you cannot use this scenery, because your libraries are outdated. Then you have to go back to this scenery, have to find out, which libraries have been used for it, try to find them and download them again, hoping that you have caught their latest version 😄

Nice thread! Most things have already been listed in previous posts. So I'll add what I wouldn't want to see:

. AI (aircraft, cars, ships and airport services) bringing the sim to its knees;

. Having to install many add-ons to improve sim features and visuals;

. Weird things when flying over poles.

1. AI, there's usually a slider so you can adjust the ai to your PC's performance.

2. Depends on what you want, but for me it already looks impressive "out of the box" without the need for additinal addons.

3. Honestly, how many times will you do that?

I know at least one current sim handling poles just fine.

I know some older sims didn't, maybe that's what people are referring to.

Autogen houses just on the other side of the airport fence. Your wing would be hanging over some hillbillies front yard.

Many of LM P3D or XP11 users can't take it and jump on peoples back when they say that P3D or XP11 has these issues.

Interesting.

I guess some of us just need to fight when we point the truth, at the end we just want a stable platform.

That's pretty much confirmed to not be happening. All the airports are being masked off in their process with their boundaries drawn with the ortho. There's also the fact that if the ortho doesn't show a building or house, the AI shouldn't put one.

1. I know, my point was exactly to have a lot of AI without affecting performance a lot. That means using other cores to manage AI. In current sims, AI tends to have a big performance impact. Of course I don't know if that will be feasible, but I'm just expressing an hope;

2. Yes, for me too it already looks very impressive. Infact it looks like they won't be needed indeed, hence my hope;

3. Very few times, but there are some little things like this, that annoy me a lot even if rarely used. Moreover, as I wrote, most other priority things were already mentioned, so my list included relatively minor issues.

You're kidding, right?

Not to be a 'party-pooper' but... most of these things are just unrealistic - and to be frank - really unfair to expect the sim to live up to.

  • CTD's are unavoidable. Whether it's hardware failure, a bad installation or incompatibility with current settings/addons. Come on...
  • Stutters - well... also unavoidable. Considering the immense amount of variety of systems and users. We already have people running out of VRAM in P3Dv5 because they just have unrealistic expectations to the sim, and are setting up their sim to fail (and then blaiming the sim/developer afterwards. Because God knows: Nothing is ever the users fault!).
  • Blurries - again... Also, considering how incredible complex the sim is combinated with the almost infinite amount of users systems, it's unreasonable to expect, that you would not run into blurries at some point in the sim.

I don't really know what to say (and I probably am taking these demands to literally) but if these listings are expectations of how a new sim (or any sim) must behave, then I'm really sorry to say so, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. On the other hand - in light of these demands - it does explain the reaction in here to Prepar3D v5...

Oh well... I'll be putting on my flak-jacket, begin digging the trenches and prepare for incoming fire...
