Have they said what's being updated in the hotfix?

Nop, I didn't find a planned release notes. To collect first ideas of content, you have to browse the Prepar3D forum and see where Rob McCarthy reacted like this one :

I don't understand why they call these hotfixes when you need to completely remove and reinstall the sim to install them the right way. Why haven't thee guys come up with a way to patch this sim without doing that? It's preposterous.

In the case of HF1, many of the issues addressed had to do with problems in the default scenery - running into “invisible walls”, mesh elevation errors, missing water bodies etc. Since the scenery part of P3D is the largest of the three packages (client, content and scenery), replacing the scenery component essentially amounts to doing a full reinstall. Whether that will also be the case with HF2 remains to be seen.

Oh that can NOT be true Gerard! We all know that v5 is bug ridden and should never have been released. Everyone is getting CTD's all the time. And of course, LM doesn't care about us poor simmers anyway.  🙂

I too am having no major issues with v5.

I wonder what we're doing wrong?

You nailed it.

OK no one ever says anything about the microstutters.

What kind of training device allows for this???

I have a 7700K at 4.2 ghz, not over clocking much if any, Prime Z270P MOBO,CORSAIR VENGEANCE LED 64GB  DDR4 3200MHz  48GB ram, 1TB M.2Nvme Samsung, and a RTX 2080 ti strix, Asus monitor 34 Inch  PQ348Q running Gsync 100mhz.

The microstutters are unreal. If anyone has anything else to add besides all the sims tweaks i would welcome it.

The system is somewhat of a powerhouse but this is ridiculous.

Can not get a darn smooth flight if i wanted to., Bu the way the frame rates are showing at 80 -90 even 110 in sparse areas.

I do not have any addons either NOTHING yet.

Here is a test.

You guys do this and let me know if you are in the same boat.

After takeoff if you turn the bottom right hand or left hand corner view out the cockpit with the default startup Fighter aircraft is so choppy it makes me sick!!!!! Lots of microstuttering, with great frame rates

By the way my monitor is the Wide

Real Simulation should not have Stutters, if they dont fix this its always going to be a "game" sick and tired of the Great Sim everyone is touting..

My 1 cents worth.

You sound quite frustrated..  suggest you spend some more time with the sim, and try to limit framerates rather than running with 80-90.. I am sure P3D can do better for you..

Joined 2011 and this is your first post... what have you been flying in the interim?

First you need to learn how to use the sim. Learn how to use it properly and you won't have micro stutters on a clean system with no addons.. A place to start - lock your fps at 30 and go from there.

Sorry, I don't have any microstutters, even in your scenario. But as others said, my fps are locked at 30 (in P3Dv5).

I have a ultra-wide. And the rest of my PC setup is far less powerful than your.

Look, P3D v5 is far from perfect but frankly, the majority of "bug" reports and crash reports have turned out to be something other than P3D as the cause. I read comments like - "Well, it works in 4.5".  News Flash - this is NOT 4.5. Just the DX12 alone means you just cannot slam the stuff together and hope it runs. Most often the culprit is the little non compatible addon that the user forgot was there.

There are many people, myself included who are not having any major issues at all - just enjoying the flights. AS I said in an earlier post - if you have a ctd every time you fly the xyz aircraft - I'd look to the install of the a/c and not blame P3D.

I've always found that micro-stutters on my machine was because of settings too high or to low. it takes a
"sweet spot", for me with same CPU is locked frames at 29, 30 I get micros. 28 gets me micros. Slider settings are just as touchy.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

At this point I’d say Active Sky (which is in beta so fair enough) and ORBX with its ObjectFlow (which comes with payware that is sold as compatible with P3D5) probably have caused more crashes than running out of vram.

I know I don’t even check my vram consumption anymore. I’ve found good settings and am happy with them.

What kind of training device runs on a desktop PC while trying to have all settings maxed out?

Let's get back to reality. Your settings are most likely set to high.

I get its frustrating but I had to dial down a few settings to get smooth performance. For me it was road and boat traffic. I found j got a massive performance boost in terms of overall fps and smoothness when traffic settings were below 20 percent. I just took them both off. That's my taste though.

No i dont have the setting too high. very conservative. Seriously i speak out of frustration that the developers dont pay attention to basics. They go for eye candy at the expense of fluid motion. Like i said my frame rates are Great.. the problems are the microstutters. Thanks for chiming in though .

I do not have settings to high mid to low at the most for all.

thanks all for your comments...

Bert? I have been busy 🙂 in the meanwhile  , and YES you are right long time member but  i don't really post here very much I  do  however read a lot  of  the posts to keep up to date.

I know from experience and from multi million dollar Sims and IPT's that are nothing than a bunch of PC's running a Sim, that the graphics are very fluid making it a training device. So in the smaller scale of Home pc's I expected that the fluidity would never be an issue.

Gents? I get phenomenal Frame rates , but with the rig I have I thought that the microstutters would not be an issue.

If im practicing IFR i dont care about the visuals but those pesky stutters are annoying. I will however try and figure out the situation.

Thanks again for the pointers.

Cheers

There are lots of discussions about getting smooth flight in P3D, and individual systems do behave differently, since all of us have a different set of software installed.

Try this as a start... Continue running P3D at unlimited fps but limit fps at 29 in nvidia Control Panel.  Select this setting for prepar3d only. Many have found this to work nicely.

Plan B would be to lock fps at 30, inside P3D.
