June 23, 20205 yr A 1060 for gpu, v5 is a definite no-no for me. I guess the right thing to do is probably wait for the 30 series to arrive. By that time, there’s a good chance that p3d will no longer be the simulator of choice.

It is intended for education and training, primarily for military and related business customers, so we are, more often than not, at best secondary targets for sales of it. Yes this does mean that it's a hard sell to us because of the requirement of very good (i.e. expensive) hardware, but this is not Lockheed Martin's concern. So if the Peruvian Air Force is looking for a turnkey classroom training solution for mission planning, their military budget Minister is not going to be going to their Air Force Academy's Commander: 'Well Colonel, I know it would be useful for training your cadets, but I'm sorry, the fact that you need two 800 quid graphics cards means the Defence Ministry simply cannot authorise its purchase because of the strain it would put on our six hundred Million Dollar budget this year. You're just going to have to use your real F5 Tigers for pilot mission training instead.' And similarly, that conversation is unlikely to continue with... 'But Minister, it has a killer DX12 feature where the engines look like they have heat blur coming off them!' 'Killer heat blur feature you say? Well this changes everything Colonel! I'll have my people get onto Banggood.com immediately and order two NVidia Sexbomb 9000 GPUs for our Air Force Training Programme. For Great Justice! And now to other matters, concerning our planned invasion of Luxembourg and our use of Call of Duty for infantry training because of its amazing graphics and killer depth of field feature in the display options...' This is the funniest thing I've seen all week. Keep it up dude! 🤣👍👍 The dx12 heat blue comment made me chuckle hard haha. In point of fact, Captain Sim is featured heavily on the homepage because P3D is made by Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of the C-130 Hercules, which is included in the sim, courtesy of using the Captain Sim model. Most flight simmers of old have had their hands on that CS C-130 for FS9 or FSX (and as a default aircraft for P3D) and know it is good, not perfect, but certainly very good. Moreover, I should think the makers of the real plane will be aware of that too since they selected it for use as a default aircraft in P3D. And of course, the CS C-130 Hercules received the following awards and nominations (and this isn't all of them)... BAFTA: Nomination, Flightsim.com: Product of the Year, SimFlight Awards: Military Aircraft of the Year (winner, two years running), FlightSimWorld: Military add-on of the Year, Gamershall.de: Gold Award, PC Pilot: Classic Award, Flugsimulation.com: Best Military Aircraft 9/10, Avsim: 4.5 Stars, Canadian Pilots 10/10 & Award for Excellence. Not everything Captain Sim does is great and I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge fan of their pricing sometimes, but many of their products are very good indeed and in spite of the criticisms leveled at them, everyone knows that when their Christmas ten quid sale used to come around, everyone was snapping their products up left right and centre, so they can't be that bad. And the release of v5 with its tumultuous hotfixes etc, has brought back the mentality that stuff changes so often we're constantly fiddling. This was, if you recall, not the case just a few months ago with 4.5. It was so set in stone that I ran my batch file and I was flying within minutes. I almost forgot about TLC because everything just -- ran. We will return to that sooner rather than later. I have dabbled in a lot of hobbies over the years and eventually most of them TLC'ed me away (I'm with you! Not everyone wants to endlessly mess with things). Not FS, I keep coming back to it for some reason. And with P3D, once I have everything set up, it's golden -- I run my batch file, and I'm flying within a minute or two, if I want. HF2 looks very promising after my flying last night. It was the best I've ever seen in the sim...flew around Alaska KCG and Port Heiden for some 11pm dusk action....EA on, ActiveSky, water on ultimate. Almost a sock-blowing-off experience, but not quite. I'm getting jaded I guess. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

I've got 4.5 humming and my XP11.4+ humming, so that I can just fly. My thinking is the kinks will be worked out by this winter and when its rainy, cold, snowy whatever I will likely be looking for something to preoccupy me.
