July 24, 20205 yr Sounds promising. However, I am pondering about the meaning of a partnership. When I think they mean, that the client of Vatsim to connect to the newwork will be implementent into the Flightsim, it'S probably to less. However, I couldn't imagen anything else then that. We definetly need to increase the number of people flying online. It's not that difficult as long as you have basic English skills - but the fun and realism factor equals 10 out of 10!! Yes, please don't implement that feature into the xbox version. Online flying is easy, but needs some training beforehand.
July 24, 20205 yr I personally hope, that with such a VFR possibilities given by FS2020, the number of VFR pilots and VFR events will increase on Vatsim as well. It is really funny flying 🙂 Often given more satisfaction that spending 4-5 hours on cruise in airliner.

The reason for me not flying VFR always has been unacurate autogen, roads etc. However, flying VFR gives you the chance to really discover and have some fun, with less restrictions.

July 24, 20205 yr I think this just means that the Vatsim client is configured with the MFS simconnect. I suspect it’s not integrated as part of the menus in the sim. Just a guess on my part. Mark CYYZ
July 24, 20205 yr Unless I missed something in the announcement I too do not believe VATSIM will be integrated, it just means at least one pilot client (probably Swift) can interface with MFS20. I'm hoping for this as well. VFR has been, ahem, a challenge with some controllers on VATSIM. Overall, VATSIM is a great addition when controllers are available. Would that be worth mentioning and dedicating a whole Partnership series? I am unsure. Most likely IVAO will bring a client in the future out, too. Maybe they have a cooperation in the sense, that communication between VATSIM Software and MSFS will bring new features into light. For example integrated ACARS communication with VATSIM ATC Software. Just some thought. We will see in the near future.
July 24, 20205 yr I love VATSIM. I just hope they ensure we don't see the skies become clogged with the arcade type flier. There is a fair amount of study and homework required to be able to use it properly. hardware/airspace/phraseology etc. That's part of the fun. But there is a base level of knowledge required. Lately I've noticed some on there who have skipped the self study part. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
July 24, 20205 yr Having flown on VATSIM for 18 years, I feel qualified to state some opinions. I am strictly a USA flyer and I limit my experiences/comments to this part of the world. During the past several years I have watched the VATSIM pilot and controller population steadily grow. With the recent pandemic crisis since March, there has been an explosion of ATC coverage and this has produced a tremendous increase in the number of pilots taking to the VATSIM skies. Any fears of "take over" by arcade type flyers has NOT occurred in my opinion. VATSIM rules have largely been followed because the controllers and supervisors have maintained an awesome attitude in properly handling anyone purposely attempting to upset the proper protocols in place. I wish to take a moment and APPLAUD the dedicated VATSIM Board of Governors, controllers and supervisors for the thousands of wonderful flying hours I have enjoyed. I have witnessed many many times a new pilot experience issues with proper communication and/or piloting skills only to be assisted by a controller going out of his way to guide the pilot into correcting his errors. Yes, as in everything in life, there are RARE times when a frustrated controller over steps his bounds and creates more problems than needed. But I repeat, this is a rarity and usually occurs during HEAVY populated events where a new pilot should probably refrain from attending anyways. If a new pilot (or even experienced one) is sincere in learning to better their skills and enjoy a realistic flight, the controllers will help whenever they can and for the most part are EXTREMELY polite and understanding. If you are seeking the most realistic ATC experience available in a flight simulator, you owe it to yourself to go here and click on "GETTING STARTED" https://www.vatsim.net/ Having followed the progression of MSFS 2020 for a year now, I was determined to purchase but concerned how long it would be before I could "fly ONLINE" . I am SO HAPPY to see this concern resolved ! Blue skies and tailwinds to ALL, Quote
