How are they financing the whole project, when the release is in less than one month? Psychologically speaking isn't that very demotivating for a team, when they get all the money now, need to work for another 7-8 years and getting no reward for it? Or are there maybe any cost coming to us in the future like upgrade packages after further three years of development? There are many, search youtube for Microsoft Flight Simulator Global Preview Event. Some are more informative than others. There can be no doubt that Microsoft are putting a lot of resources (not just financial) into this project: multiple divisions of the company involved, multiple top-tier third parties, multiple platforms, cutting edge technology - all of which are likely feeding back to the mutual benefit of each other... The 10 year plan suggests that this is not just another game for the catalogue, this is something much more intertwined with Microsoft's broader corporate strategy over the next decade. Bernard

They won't keep paying 200 people or whatever it is. They will make ongoing money via taking a cut of 3rd party add-ons in the official store, plus I'm sure they'll release their own add-ons. That's the long term money stream. That and monetizing the engine for other commercial uses.

Oh yeah, I apparantly have seen those vids. I though, maybe PMDG or FSLabs have commented on it. No worries, nonetheless, thanks for sharing. 2 minutes ago, bonchie said: The team will no doubt shrink greatly once the sim is released. They won't keep paying 200 people or whatever it is. I wonder (obviously don't know) if there will be additional purchases down the road.. Seasons, new aircraft, updated world graphics, etc.. PLUS they will get a cut of all add ons in the marketplace so they will keep getting paid there too... just a thought. I haven't sensed anything but over the top expectations about this game. It continues as I type this. Just peruse the forum and crazy expectations are written about daily. It doesn't appear the leaks have had much effect on the silly craziness. The leaks don't tell the whole story. The leaks are not the final product. The very best anyone can do is temper expectations and wait till the game releases in August. Edited July 25, 20205 yr by n4gix For heaven's sake, QUIT quoting the entire text in your replies!!!
July 24, 20205 yr It always is good to take at it with a realistic look. Nothing comes for free : sharper ground scenery than other Flightsims, more realistic scenery than other Flightsims, better and more realistic looking weather , more FPS , car traffic etc etc. Looking at multiple vids I have seen less sharp scenery in the distance ( in other Flightsims we call that blurries ) and small stutters when flying over very detailed scenery. You have to be realistic.... 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

Reddit users have downright crazy expectations. People over there have taken everything in from the published marketing material as such and to top it off let their imagination run wild. It's going to be a rude awakening for them. I'm stocking on popcorn.
July 24, 20205 yr The good news is the ones that did not get an invite on the Alpha stand a better chance next time , as names are being taken off the next beta on a daily bases 😁 Raymond Fry.

I called the marketplace strategy long ago and now I call cosmetic items (liveries, interior deco, stuff like that) and trading. A successful concept in the industry right now. July 24, 20205 yr Depends which leaks you are talking about. There are leaks, and then there are 'leaks', as in the kind of leaks which governments do 'accidentally on purpose' by claiming a 'briefcase has gone missing' or something's been 'left on a photocopier', usually so that the content of such 'leaks' can easily be denied, or amended or whatever, or simply to get people talking about the subject; it's always a good way to get people talking about your stuff by having something 'leak' instead of officially putting it out. As the saying goes: some people will believe anything if you whisper it. Any media-savvy advertising agency knows this. So don't automatically imagine that someone is definitely in trouble for having put up a video with their ID all over it; they may well have been asked to do it. July 24, 20205 yr If you expect something to be perfect, then you're living in an alternate universe and you need to come back down to earth. Some people will forever be the same, expecting a lot more than what is humanely capable in a video game. The leaks for me have lifted my excitement as the feature episodes and weekly updates were starting to bore me. What is needed is a long gameplay footage of the simulator in action, showing most of what it can do and where it stands today. I personally think and I know a lot more think so too, that the beta should have been an open beta - to showcase the world of MSFS 2020 to everybody without the need for closed doors, inevitable leaks (because there's nothing to lose) and relative lack of hype in regards for the new simulator. I hope Asobo/MS stick to their word and allow all of us who have signed up for the alpha/beta given access to the beta.
July 24, 20205 yr There will be an open Beta on the 18th of August, Flight sims tend be work in progress to the next update. Raymond Fry.
