Stockholm looks terrible...

Featured Replies

I am surprised to see how very bad the Bing data set is. As Slides is saying - Blackshark is doing a really good job if that is all it has to work with.

Hopefully Bing has some plans to step up their game going forward.

???

Not sure which locations you are comparing to get to that conclusion. Google Maps sees to use much more photos taken from airplanes, while Bing has a lot of blurry satellite photos.

I thought the Amman Jordan shots had a weird yellow green thing going on too, maybe this guy has weird saturation settings or something?

It looks great. What do you mean?

Exactly. I looked at some aerial photos that looked identical.
These P3D / x-plane trolls are getting worse.

Well all 4 screenshots show different issues. I would agree the MSFS one definitely has a green hue to the overall landscape within the scenery.Even the roads have this same hue.

The other noticeable thing for me on the MSFS screenshot is that the roof textures appear to be 1/2 realistic, 1/2 "simulated" as you can see the repeated texture patterns in use across many different buildings in the city.

Lets hope they can fix it through some forthcoming updates and bring added realism to the new sim.

my main airport ESSA is useless hope ORBX ESSA is one of the first from ORBX.

the city is nice no problem , but some rural parts look like a desert.

I wouldn't stress about the textures because the team has mentioned they'll be updated as Bing gets updated. And I'm sure 3rd party developers will clean up textures further.

I'm sure not. 3PD will not able to correct the streamed scenery. At most you only can replace some area by complete add-on scenery, if someone create it, with many GBs datas stored locally, as usually in previous sims.

Two thoughts on the images above:

1) Blackshark AI can take some really crappy source imagery and make it look believable

2) We should be pushing Google to make a flight sim.

3) Bing/MFS should have waaaaay more photogrammetry cities.

Cheers

Yeah, BING stepping up would be the best solution. Even if Google decides to do a flight sim, it would take years before release.

Happy with MSFS 🙂
home simming evolved

If you think that Stockholm in MSFS looks terrible then the other sims should be unusable to you because despite the flaws, MSFS is light years ahead of the other sims...?

if a scenery somewhere does not look so good, np, the earth is big, i fly elsewhere.

the more critical you are of something the less you will be able to enjoy it.

so, quite a few ppl are going to be unhappy about fs, but i guess the majority is going to enjoy it, despite some obvious flaws.

But then Stockholm would be too purple instead of too green😀
