So...regarding options to replace the lackluster ATC

Help me understand this.  You get ride of the default ATC how will you interact with the in sim AI traffic?  Using live ATC (people in our community part timing as Air Traffic Controllers) doesn't solve the problem of AI traffic either or real world traffic as they aren't going to follow the rules all the time.  I'm not a big fan of interacting with other simmers flying around in the sim as your going to have the word not allowed who wants to be stupid and run into other simmer's aircraft on purpose or block active runways trying to be funny.  I've seen Youtube videos where people have word not allowed others off being stupid in the sim.  Default ATC has it's purpose although not for everybody.

Not sure what's going on but the last part of my statement didn't come out as desired.  Let's try again:

"I'm not a big fan of interacting with other simmers flying around in the sim as your going to always have that one person who wants to be stupid and run into other simmer's aircraft on purpose or block active runways trying to be funny.  I've seen Youtube videos where people have been ticked with others being stupid in the sim.  Default ATC has it's purpose although not for everybody."

Just figured out what's going on, words are censored now ("word not allowed")... Thought I was getting old, settling into the fact it had to happen at some point.

I haven't messed with the radio

Oh, that's actually too bad. If you had, you could've checked out if it's still possible to set channels like 119.270. The ones that don't exist irl.

Well, THAT's certainly a reason not to buy MSFS! 😄

Oh wait, I don't use the radio.  Never mind. 🙂

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

I’ve used VoxATC a lot with P3D and will happily buy it immediately on being released to MSFS. It supports VFR, UK phraseology, AI flight interaction and is actively developed.

I’ve used Pilot2ATC with XP11 a bit too and although it doesn’t have great AI interaction like Vox, I’d buy it if Vox doesn’t come out.

Vatsim is great but sometimes I feel like flying offline with full comms or having full coverage when not available on Vatsim.

Hopefully the SDK will allow third party programs to have full control of the AI like the earlier MS sims.

Agreed.  I like to use ATC, even if it has its flaws.

The solution for me is not to turn it off as some like to suggest.

MSFS developers need to fix it if it has errors.

Oh, I could leave it on with little changing most of the time.  I like to fly places that don't have any kind of coverage.

When I'm flying in areas that do have coverage, I avoid controlled airspace and restricted areas.  This is not an option for those who prefer airliners, but the area where MSFS really shines in GA and bush flying, not airliner operations.

With FSUIPC7 expected to release in beta form on the 18th, Radar Contact v4 might turn out to still be an option.

The big hanging chad appears to be finding a way to generate the RC4 data files (currently done by Pete Dowson's makerwys utility).

I've always used Pro ATCx as my compromise solution for fsx/p3d.  I liked that it was reactive to the weather, and would change your departures/arrivals/approaches/runways dynamically on the fly.  It doesn't control ground traffic, and the ATC phraseology is not accurate according to accounts (which I don't care about anyway, obv some do)  Presumably, since it uses simconnect, it should be relatively easy for the overall engine to work in MSFS, there would just need to be a way of getting the MSFS nav info into the ATC "brain".  The devs are AWOL apparently, so it doesn't look like even that is going to happen

i've completed dozens of flights using ATC. In fact, I don't fly without it. Sure, it has a few quirks but it's quite serviceable.

I worded my list badly, because one could easily mistake me for a tester - which I'm not. Im just referring to what I've seen on youtube. I never see anyone actually dialing in the frequencies in the radio panel. I only see them click the corresponding menu item and the frequency change happens automatically.

I personally do. I change the frequencies, squawk codes etc... atc recognizes that i changed it and it progresses forward. It gives more realism. Going to give Pilotedge a try though......

With WideFS an option has anyone tried PF3 with MSFS?

Many of us who enjoy using offline (non Vatsim) ATC have recently noticed how the new atc system in MSFS really hasn't received the same love and attention that other portions of the new sim have, so...

I was wondering if we could make this thread a sort of listing of any new ATC products that you know may be in the works and to be compatible with the new MSFS2020.

If you know of any please post about them here. I know of a product called Pilot2ATC which i used for XP but also worked with FSX & P3D. I don't know if it's being upgraded for MFSF2020 but I would certainly hope so. This particular ATC addon uses Voice recognition and phraseology for those who want atc included for both IFR and VRF flights.

Here's the link: https://pilot2atc.com/

Just to clarify, I would like to add that this product has the 'option' to use voice recognition.  I always state this as many players don't use voice activated anything, but this post possibly implies that it must be used.

Apparently it is the developer's intention to have Multi Crew Experience work with the new sim. 🙂

Indeed.

And it's just released 🙂

Forgot to mention something. Full voice control with Native FS 2020 ATC, not just crew coordination with co-pilot for aircraft switches or ground mechanic for pushback.

The pushback system as it is now I hope is scrapped completely. I hope Asobo understands it is better to just have a silent pushback that just works instead of using dialogue and having this crazy delay between you giving the order and the action being deployed. I don't even think I need to mention it - I bet they know this already.

At least you can end a pushback immediately w/ a button press, as well as start pushback as needed.  Unfort I don't think you can change directions w/ a button press, yet, w/ the manually trigged pushback.  There are threads in the MS/A wishlist on this.

I was hoping for even slightly improved ATC and to be honest I feel there are some improvements, but a lot of problems as well.  If they fix all of the basic problems left with it, I will still use it but especially if add'l voices are added.  I liked the old recorded voices in the original FSX better than this quite frankly--much more plausible.  But I don't miss the herring-bone vectoring in the old one.
